for the people wondering about the f train, it's just one of the hardest trains to get on in new york because it's always packed..so maybe he's comparing the impossiblity of catching that train to the impossibility of ever being wanted? :-( |

| Tokyo Police Club – The Baskervilles Lyrics

and sorry for the double comment but on wikipedia it said this:
"After some clever deception by Holmes,it is revealed that the true criminal is Stapleton, a long-lost cousin of the Baskervilles, who hopes to claim their vast fortune himself after removing all other members of the bloodline."
which would relate to "I think, and correct me if I'm wrong
This end was meant for you
Since before you were born" as in, the person had been planning to murder everyone else to get the money for quite some time/"since they'd been born"
sorry if this makes no sense :{ |

when i first read these lyrics, i thought of a murder :-\ and then i googled "baskervilles murder" and got a result about a sherlock holmes book as well as a movie called murder at the baskervilles, so maybe it relates to one of those? |

the last part 'elephant shell, you're my cave and i've been hiding out..' makes me think of someone who's in a relationship just because they're afraid of being single, they don't know anything about the person (will you tell me a little bit about yourself) and they just use them for security..i hope that's clear |

to me, this whole song sounded like a mental patient speaking or someone mid-breakdown (because in some cases people get repetitive, trust me) and then i looked at the she said part, and for some reason i thought of frances farmer..if the song was about her, it would definitely tie in with the "i dont mind/dont have a mind" part and kurt has written about her numerous times, but thats just my opinion |

| The Shins – Weird Divide Lyrics

this album is about experiences as a teenager, with references to highschool etc...the weird divide means the awkward social divide between cliques (ie, popular, nerds, etc) and i think james is writing as someone who isn't very popular (look at "know your onion!") who has a fancy for a popular and unattainable person that's described in this song |

this song is pretty obvious, especially the line "there's too much green to feel blue"
he's playing off the fact that fall out boy is considered a group of sellouts. it's not about pot or jealousy, he's saying there's too much money being thrown around for him to feel bad, i.e. money buys happiness |

can everyone stop tying rape into this song? the album, domestica, is written as a one act play that describes the pain, lies, etc that come with a divorce and this song is about a piece of said divorce. tim wrote it about his divorce from his now-ex kim, and the song meaning is really obvious. stop trying to write stupid meanings into it, none of them make sense anyway :-) |

| Say Anything – Metal Now Lyrics

First of all, Live Through This is an album by Hole and that explained a lot of the song to me. The particular verse about the wrists in 1996, etc is basically him making fun of the album (because it was depressing), and the part about slitting wrists for attention is conveying that the girl slit her wrists to get recognized as being a "real" fan of the music when in truth, she's doing it for attention. Does that make sense?
Basically, it's about how people now are saying that they're a certain genre, but he's making fun of it because Max sees genres as ridiculous titles. The title, and the lyric "Metal now, but I've always been" are basically going along with the music (it has a kind of "metal" sound) as well as the various screams throughout the song.
In general, he's simply saying: fuck labels. |

| Taking Back Sunday – Spin Lyrics

I hate to break this up and completely trash everyone's opinions that this song is about a breakup....it's not.
As mentioned in Spin magazine, this song is about bad reviews for the album Where You Want To Be, namely from the magazine Spin itself. It's about how people basically wrote WYWTB off because Shaun and John weren't a part of it, and didn't bother to give the new lineup a chance, much like people on the boards. It's about how people can't look and see their growth as an artist, especially in the lyric "Don't act like you're the first one..." where the band is talking about how reviewers tried to act like they weren't comparing the albums when they were. I'm prepared to get attack with comments about this evaluation but it has been confirmed and so there you go. |
