Theres someone who means so much to me. This is his favourite song... And I can see why. "already she likes concrete better than grass" moving away to the city... Like a cliche. "I don't wanna sound like this" hes being careful and doesn't want his words to be taken the wrong way... A way to say he cares? Not wanting to be too criticizing? "You focus your sights and try Try to stare up at the sky Does it hurt your eyes? Maybe you'll go blind" I think is obvious. Take a large load at once and you'll break underneath. "trees stand at attention" Controlling... Controlling the trees, shaping the world to be as you want it. Looking for something different... Going out to find it without thinking through completely what you could be throwing away. Just wanting to get out without thinking about the consequenses... Feeling a need for change... When really youre running away from something that is already great. "you don't need wings now" To me that means both greed, expecting and wanting too much, and that you don't need everything to be happy. "Ignorance is bliss" Personally, as much as I hate that line, it's always in my mind. Theres a lot of bullshit in this world that the people who don't know it are usually the happiest. You can't worry and stress about what you don't know. Thats what I beieve this song is about. Maybe the little "little death" reference to orgasm just means that people find comfort and escape in each other, through passion and love, or maybe just company... But contact with people, talking to someone, like a shrink. "Fall asleep with the window open" Falling asleep, leaving yourself totally volnerable and blind to the dangers around you... Not knowing the dangers around you. Leave the window open because you trust the world with your life. "Come to me with the worst you;ve said and done" meaning "I wont judge you" I think that this song is told in the person of a shrink, or someone who wants to help someone by being an refuge for their thoughts and fears. This person unstable themselves, confused. Not so innocent as the one theyre trying to help. "car crash in slow motion" slow and torturous death. Seeing it happening but not being able to stop it!! Well maybe I'm thinking to deep. But thats what I see... Theres more, but I'm sure youre all smart enough to get more out of it. |

Although I was told that "Little Death" is an idiom for "have sex", I dont think that was really intended. I believe that a "little death" means a little pain, a little pain does give us more appreciation, forver, for a little moment of disomfort. I told my friend today that the reason I didnt fear any pain was beause I believe that the pain will not matter at all to you when it is finished, but it will make you stronger... Kinda what I think is the point of this song. I first heard Little Death when I was in a REALLY pissed mood. I just wanted to break and kill things, like I do a lot. I put on a CD from my friend and when it got to this song I fell to the ground and cried. It's beautiful, I definately must buy this album. But what does the "with the windows open" mean? |

Some of the lyrics arn't right, "Feelin' spit in my face" is "Freedom spit in my face" and "From running empty" is "Run-down and empty". I'm totally sure, and I know it doesn't sound right, but it's in the lyrics booklet in the album. If any of you we true fans you would be buying albums rather than scamming people like Meat Loaf by downloading music and you would know the lyrics. I'm pretty sure Like "[?]inhibitions / a-mebisious / an ambition[/?]" is "Like something vicious" but I can't really remember, the booklet is in the car outside which I can't really be bothered getting right now... I don't mean to sound mean, it just really annoys me of how people can claim to be loyal fans yet still not be helping the artists out. And yeah, this is a truly kickass song!! Meat Loaf is great at smerging the Classic Rock with some Metallish, fast, heavy, good stuff but still making it orchestrial and powerful. There are just soo many instruments playing in this song, so many people that want to play for Meat Loaf it's amazing. It's a great change to the modern punk-rock bands with only four members! I love how heavy this song is, it's great =] And I know this is "SongMeanings" not "SongCritism" but I just had to say that... I think the meaning of this song is really obvious, like everyone else has commented, a guy who is breaking through after decades of torment. Meat Loaf is a legend, I've been listning to him since I was born and forever will \m/ Even though I'm a metal/punk/emo-chick, I'm not ashamed to tell everyone my first concert was Meat Loaf XD |
