Seems uncharacteristically literal for a TREOS song. Oh well. I still like it. |

ok this is a streaming kind of analysis but i think this song is about a sort of state of mind of possibly a soldier: "autonomous machete for hands" the person doesn't have real control over what he's doing; it has become almost automatic "warden and judge hide behind masks" warden - control; judge - reason the control and reason in the persons mind is blocked (masked) by something else (radical ideas) "wet raindrop lull small rationing" the writer could have meant that the lull is in small rations as in there are only brief periods of rest "exhumed the rhetoric of break the weak in single file" bring back the ideas after the respite "sanction this outbreak, a virus conspires" this is talking about the formation of a faction, as when people begin approving a certain idea, more people begin to agree. also, the person who i was referring to earlier may be a follower of this faction which may be rebelling, fighting, etc. "push becomes shove, days become months i seem to have forgotten the warmth of the sun" this person doesn't remember days of clarity, of days before this "viral" idea. but things have gone too far. the chorus is also about the spread of the idea once "sanctioned" "shackled the grapple" if people have tried to further analyze this idea and if there is any sense behind it but the "grip (grapple)" they have put on it is stopped (shackled) the second verse is mostly about executing this idea i guess this was long goodnight |

this is a really interesting song for ATDI with all the high pitched "take it like a man" but i like it i think its about job competition in the corporate setting how sometimes people are like animals fighting for jobs and willing to stab people in the back and lie and cheat "a cubicle movement" might indicate the advancement and such you know... |

i agree with most of these interpretations i was also thinking about the "cut your fingernails way too short" part and it relating to the burning of evidence theory i think that this might be about someone who has committed a crime and is trying to destroy all the possible evidence however, when he's destroying it, he must give up everything as well, identity, location, etc. i always thought of fingernails as something that helps you grasp on to something and help to hold it in destroying all of these things, he is cutting his "fingernails" too short its hard to explain but it works in my mind |
