The Clash – London Calling Lyrics 19 years ago
Despite an obvious choice, this is still the best track on the London Calling album. I remember the first time that i properly heard this song, it was in my big brother's car and he'd just passed, so i must've been 12 and he must've been 12. It conjures up so much drama. 'Ice age, zombies of death, battle, death of the Sun,' and of course the confrontational beauty of the music. Like a welcome kick in the face. First time I heard it, it was full volume and it sounded like the end of the world!!!! A rallying call from Joe 'hero' Strummer about what's going wrong, what's gonna happen and what's gonna happen if you don't stop it!!!! I love the wolf crys in it. Uplifting stuff from 'the only band that mattered!' One of my favourites

The Clash – The Prisoner Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is actually about Bernie Rhodes (the original Clash manager) on account of his obsessive nature of working in the rehearsal rehearsal's office.
