As I Lay Dying – The Pain Of Separation Lyrics 19 years ago
"I'm gonna just ignore the whole atheist outcry. They'll believe God exists eventually, whether before or after they die."

Hahahahahaha. I know it's really wrong to comment on this site when it has nothing to do with the bland metalcore band's lyrics, but you've got to be kidding me. I think you'll realise whether god exists or not after you die too. Although obviously you'll be too dead to know.

Underoath – A Love So Pure Lyrics 19 years ago
The music isn't too bad, but the lyrics. Oh god (pun intentional), the lyrics are horrible. I mean, jesus christ ( pun intentional), it's so sickeningly christian. I understand that they're a christian band, but bloody hell! (pun intentional)

I wouldn't mind that much, but it's the last two lines, sung clearly that really make me cringe. And the person who said "god sucks" is stupid. God doesn't suck, because he isn't real.

But yeah, there isn't really much to decipher in these lyrics; they love god. It's basically just a hymn but screamed.

I'm really glad that with each album they've got better and better, and their lyrics have actually become much more clever, and not so gut-wrenchingly cheesey.

Circa Survive – The Glorious Nosebleed Lyrics 19 years ago
Well, I personally think the "calcium waste" is a mixture of two meanings. Obviously cocaine is a white powder; calcium is, too, a white powder. The second meaning is, I think, relating to bones. Maybe it's saying that the cocaine, something he can't control due to addiction, is slowly killing him. So the calcium waste is a reference to disintegrating bones. Well, I personally think it's comparing cocaine to death. I mean, there are a lot of references to death: "Walk into the light" and "you'll never make it", and cocaine: "we forced feeding you lines". But I definitely don't think it's about suicide, unless you count the slow death from a strong cocaine addiction as suicide.

Beautiful song, anyway.

Remembering Never – Incisions Lyrics 19 years ago
These lyrics are awesome. I really love the "die knowing you lived your life on your knees" lyrics. I also think it may be referring to whorishness and blowjobs. No? That's just another subtle meaning I read from it.

Every Time I Die – Ebolarama Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this is a fantastic song. I love the lyric: "If it helps, we'll dim the lights on the floor. Neon bulbs are the cosmetics of swine."

The general jist of the song is the comparison of slutty women in bars to livestock auctions. This comparison is used in nearly every line of the song, such as with "In no time there will be makeup on our new set of cutlery." and "We've tricked the pigs into thinking that this auction is a pageant."

Ion Dissonance – OASD Lyrics 19 years ago
If I am not mistaken, this song is about murdering and then raping a child.

I really love the way it's done in such a blasé, slightly offhand kind of way. I think the lyric "Look on the bright side, child. You'll never grow old" sums this up.

Good lyrics, but equally a bit messed up!
