Actually, the person talking about Robby going to Jim's notebook to get the lyrics is right on.
However, the poem they chose was one tha Jim wrote about Pam's abortion/miscarriage. These are the references to the blood. Apparently Pam was less than happy that 1) Jim wrote about the incident and 2) that it made it into a song like this. |

If you listen closely, Jim recorded the lyrics in a whisper. You can hear him whispering the lyrics at the same time he is singing them. Beware - once you hear it, you will never be able to listen to the song again without hearing his whispering.
This song is about life, and how to live. I think in this song, the storm is death - we are all riding along just barely in front of death (i.e., death is always over your shoulder). If you give up hope (give this man a ride - the man is obviously the reaper) then your sweet family will die. Giving up hope kills. |
