I can't stop listening to this song- great lyrics. I think this song is about an affair, one married, one single and the lyrics are written from the single persons inner dialogue. My eyes have once again been proven wrong Your clouds, your blanket and my pity song Hovering on your front lawn Carry on until it's gone The person is feeling sorry for themselves, thinking about what they're doing, realizing that their perspective is clouded and unrealistic. They're desperate to be around the other person, hanging around them when they can but at the same time realizing that they're only continuing to hurt themselves. What can I do? The river's overrun We're swimming in a flood, you know? I thought I felt your touch But the water's rising up They relent to their emotions, what can I do? I am in too deep, I thought I felt you care, I kid myself into believing that something more was going to come out of this. i think this song could potentially be about those stages of your life, where you just "are"- you interact with your day, but your mind is a total blank- you are just going through the motions, almost a surreal stage, no feelings, nothing matters. you see people, you know their names, but you have no feelings toward them. you look at yourself in the mirror, but are not quite sure who you are looking at. you see your hands moving, but don't really know what they are doing. stuck in limbo, you want to feel and care, but you just cant bring yourself to. the dying want to feel anything but numb could be an interpretation of "monkeys in my heart are rattling their cages." i dunno. this song sent me into a trance, and its just what it made me think of. intelligent interpretation? |

| i am kind of glad this band isnt signed. music anymore is just turning into trash and more about money and less about sharing feelings or making people question what the musician is trying to say. bands like gregory and the hawk keep real music alive, and fans like us will help keep them a float. congratulations to fans like us for finding the true meaning in music, and congratulations to gregory and the hawk for making us turn everything off and just focusing on the music. it is rare when i can find a band that just makes me sit and think engulfed in the music, if you listen to a song that brings back memories and tugs on the emotions then you know, you have found a truly awesome band. | |
