I know some of you already posted this, but to clear things out, Layne didn't write these lyrics, they are not about heroin, end of story. Not all of Layne's lyrics were about heroin, but most of them were. He was, just like me, really upset with his own doing, and I hope that if nothing else, he leaves behind the knowledge of never doing drugs again. He's Jesus, he died for our sins, let's never forget him, or what he did.
But morever, the song itself, to me, has always been about death (which most of Cantrells lyrics were about). It's about seeing the life coming to its end, and even if you'd like to fly, ones wings have been so denied all you can do is sit in your tomb and watch them place the stones in their place. |

I think he's saying that he's been "tainted by my sin" and because of his mistake he's bleeding "I'm spilling blood and I can hardly contain it", like the life is slipping through his hands without knowing what to do. He's feeling stiff and he's trying to "slow it down" but this still keeps pushing him. "More violent, all consuming throbbing" but it's still pushing him. I'm an old drugged up freak and all I see is the drugs speaking, but I don't know if Wayne's got those sorts of problems? That would though explain the push and trying to slow down, also the "i see it, i need it", and also the use of the word trip I guess. |

| Static-X – My Damnation Lyrics

It could be about a girl, but it could also just be about a good but two-faced friend stabbing him in the back for a longer period of time. Wayne, first perhaps in denial "I didn't know you were taking what's mine" but as he finds out he still feels for this person and therefor letting this person get away with it for so long, but still "everyday is my damnation". "Time to take control" probably means just that, Wayne is trying to regain the control of himself and his own life again, even though it's hard "harder than you know", because this was someone really close to his heart. "Leave it behind, I can't take this hating, I'll make it go away" sounds to me like he's trying to forgive this person, and make this person stop whatever it is that s/he's doing. But then "I can tell there's nothing more to say" is Wayne sadly giving up on this person. |
