Ahh, man I love this song. It's just so awesome and catchy with fantastic lyrics as well.
It's pretty obvious that it's about a guy who's in love, but I'm pretty sure it's with another guy "when the fire in HIS eyes, so bright".

Hmm. Must say I don't think Tool have a clue about religion. Actually most people don't. They see Catholicism and Islam and Hindu and all the other religions that just went corrupt over time, and I agree with parts of this song when it comes to that. It's in an awful state. I'm a Christian, but I'm an educated Christian who actually reads the bible and questions what I'm taught. Not everyone follows blindly just because they don't know better. I just wish people knew something about religion before they dismiss it (though that's their right, and I'm glad they express it. People should).
Before you start getting angry at me, Tool are one of my favorite bands. Just because I don't agree with what they say, doesn't mean I don't love their music. |

Well the singer had a close personal relationship with Jeff Buckley and wrote this song after she heard he went missing. I think it's just about her feelings. The video probably uses the foetus as the subject because it is so innocent. |

Tolkien was a devoted Christian, as was C.S Lewis. I think this refers to Helm's Deep, where Aragon is supposed to look for Gandalf at the dawn of the third day... But this in itself is a reference to the apocalypse.

Every time I hear this song I melt. The Spanish guitar gives me shivers, I can almost hear him whispering it into the girl's ear as he prepares to leave. I can see the torment on his face, the ache in the girl's. I can almost breathe it in. The softness of him telling her, and the inner screaming. The regret. I'm in tears right now.
