Kate Nash – We Get On Lyrics 17 years ago
"But I carried on regardless
Strutting through each room trying to find you

And when I saw you kissing that girl
My heart, it shattered
And my eyes, they watered
And when I tried to speak, I stuttered
And my friends were like "Whatever!
You'll find someone better!
His eyes were way too close together!
And we never even liked him from the start!
And now he's with that tart
And I heard she's done some really nasty stuff
Down in the park with Michael
He said she's easy
And if your guy's with someone that's sleazy
Then he ain't worth your time
'Cause you deserve a real nice guy!"
So I proceeded to get drunk and to cry
And lock myself in the toilets for the entire night"

...That was a horrible night :(

...Yeah, I agree with most when they say we can all relate to this song.

The Spill Canvas – Black Dresses Lyrics 18 years ago
To me, I don't think the funeral is quite as literal as it seems.
I kinda think that he's changing a part of himself/maturing for someone he loves, possibly a woman who may not be willnig to do the same thing for him - it's almost as if he's killing a part of himself.

Patrick Wolf – Bloodbeat Lyrics 18 years ago
Kinda says to me he's trying to overcome a fear or something he has been avoiding.
I'm not certain tbh.

Enter Shikari – Anything Can Happen in the Next Half Hour... Lyrics 19 years ago
''Anything can happen in the next half hour'' [Title could be reference to cocaine? After snorted, the effects can last up to 30 minutes]

"His eyes are locked on her,
Her eyes are fixed elsewhere,
He’s confident, but he's not aware,
She doesn't care.''
In a club? The guy has taken a shine to this girl and his mind [and eyes] are fixated on her.
She hasn't noticed him or just doesn't bother about him. However, it's not in his interest whether or not she's aware.
He seems to think he knows what he's doing and the word 'confident' is also a reference to the fact he's been taking cocaine, [which may lead him to take a very careless risk...]
But she still hasn't taken any notice of him - she doesn't care.
''Their only connection, is the silence that they both grasp''
Ironically, the only thing they have in connection is no connection.
"he's lost control, but she’s not aware, of his stare."
The cocaine has taken effect on him and he's being affected by the anticipation of the realisitc threatening event unfolding in his mind. She unaware that she's in his sights.
''Everything seems to intimidate him, with the strobe lights flashing, her body's jolting,''
The words 'intimidate' and 'jolting' refers back to the effects of cocaine again.
''But cracking, as his eyes, split in two, if only she knew...''
'Cracking' represents 2 meanings in this line. The word choice is a hint that it's cocaine he's been taking. Mentally, he's cracking and giving in to the effect of the coke, letting it gain control over his mind and actions, making him even more confident.
'as his eyes split in two' - again, reference to the cocaine.
'if only she knew...''...what he was thinking. Imagining. Attemtping.
''The curtain goes down on him again…''
The drugs take a bad turn on him again? Giving him more confidence [in a bad way]
''Everything seems to be closing in on her,''
He's slowly creeping up on her.

''It feels just like she is being hunted''

He is watching her with this stare of his, and is closing in on her, ready to make a move.

''But its all right, it's all good,
She’s not aware, of his stare.''

Obviously, she hasn't noticed...

''We’ve had this date from the beginning…''

As capoatthe5th has already mentioned, Tennessee Williams used a similar line in the play 'A Streetcar Named Desire'', in which the character, Stanley, went on to rape the main character Blanche after saying the similar line to her in the same chapter - Personally, I believe the line in this song is used to imply that idea here also.

''The curtain goes down on him again…
Who remains when the curtain falls?
Who remains when the curtain goes down...? ''

We are left to ponder whether or not he 'succeeds' in his aim or if he is in too weak a state to overcome her due to the effect of the drugs he's been taking.

In conclusion, this dude has been taking cocaine on a night out leaving him over-confident. He's spotted a girl who hasn't taken any notice of him and over the effects of the crack and the course of around 30 mins, he has begins to 'creep' up on her as such, ready to make a move in which may or may not result in rape.

Well, that's my theory on the song anyways.
:)
