| Rilo Kiley – 15 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I could be wrong, but I really deeply feel like it's not as literal as everyone is taking it. I think when she sings "how could he have know..." it's actually cynical and sarcastic. Like obviously he knows she's way too young for him, but he chooses to do it anyway. Not thinking about the girl and not even caring about the trouble he might get himself into. And in phrasing it the way she does, i think it's much more scathing. how could he know? i mean, after all her body was developing. it just comes off to me like she's saying, "what a fucking loser." and i really like this. it almost makes me ashamed of my gender. | |

i couldn't agree more. the whole religion and faith part is just amazing. my religion is in your eyes but my church ain't organized that line will stick in my mind forever |

| David Dondero – Lone Rose Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this is sort of a tribute song to a girl who died. the title is "lone rose." and i guess the one thought that persists with me is that dondero has an important relationship with conor oberst. and on the bright eyes austin city limits conor dedicated a song to a girl named rose who died. and i'm just wondering if dondero is singing about the same rose that conor acknowledged on that show. if anyone has insight please post. i love this song. "i know you kinda didn't wanna die." that really moves me. the kinda. it really simplifies life and death and bridges the two extremes nicely. | |
| The Good Life – On the Picket Fence Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| it does sound familiar. i think the lyrical progression reminds of lua by bright eyes. i think the syllables in the picket fence part are the same as the syllables in the "simple in the moonlight" part of lua. i could be wrong. | |
| Dntel – Dumb Luck Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I'm new to dntel. Is this Jimmy singing? I ask because all the other songs have credited guest vocals | |
| Modest Mouse – Fly Trapped in a Jar Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
maybe this is a stretch, but i'm surprised no one has said anything about it. but i thought about this song a lot and got this vibe that it might be about the war, as with other songs on this album. "one wing wasn't even enough to leave" -- the entire left wing wants to leave iraq, but we're still there. "i hadn't noticed, but the people really noticed that they really didn't want us around" -- self explanatory. just a thought |

has anyone heard "what people are made of" by modest mouse. the last lyric in the song is well, the one thing you're taught 'bout human beings is this they ain't made of nothin' but water and shit that's the first thing i thought about when i heard this song |
