This song is so hard to understand (lyrically I mean). Good try dfitzd, sometimes I think you're right but I'm sure not everything is good. I tried the first lines, but quickly stopped, too hard. First word is could (instead of did) though. Hope someone else can help us! |

Fierce_Bear, I think you're right. I mean look at the clip; people with elephant outfits, a safari hunter (Zach also mentioned this in a interview, the fact that he wanted the singer to be a safari-hunter personage). |

It's been a while ago, but I've read something about the lyrics in an interview with Arcade Fire. It's about Win's nightmare and he wrote it directly after he was awoken. They also said that it was definitely not about terrorism, but where surprised that people compared the song with the last hours of a suicide bomber. |

Wow, you've found the link. According to the music magazine Oor, James Mercer said in an interview with the magazine that Turn on Me is about the disturbed relationship between James Mercer and his old friend from his first band, Flake (sorry, I forgot his name). After they decided to stop and start the Shins, James Mercer became the creative leader of the group; that Flake member was jalous, and never joined the band. Since then, they hate each other (there were no appologies from neither one of them). |
