| Blind Guardian – Sadly Sings Destiny Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Nazarene was a title referring to Christ. The phrase "Jesus of Nazareth" could be more literally translated to "Jesus the Nazarene/Nazorean." So, this refers to how Jesus knew that Judas would betray him. "Surely not I, rabbi?" "Yes, it is you." |

| Certainly an awesome song. Originally released on the Year Zero Remixed album by NIN, it's the song "Hyperpower!" With lyrics. The lyrics are, amazing. They fit in almost perfectly with the theme of Year Zero. In fact, this song could easily replace "Hyperpower!" in the Year Zero album, as any NIN fan would hear it. | |

People know the names of stars, moons, constellations... All these heavenly bodies that don't *really* mean anything. But artificial satellites, made by us, useful to us, the only heavenly bodies which really are *ours*, no one knows their name. We're nothing but satellites in the sky. |

| The Blackout – Tops Off Party Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is amazing, and for a long time it seems like a metaphor, but it also sounds like it's almost describing an attempted rape. Also, the song seems to have two different characters, the character that sings the first verse and the chorus, and the character that sings the second verse and "I'm so close, scream for me". Just my thoughts. | |

| Hookers who work corners at convenience stores, like 7-11. They ain't pretty, but they get the sex done, and cheap. | |

| This song cracks me up. I interpret the phrase as "I'm big enough to make up for all that I never really did." As for the song itself, I find it about a kid that used to be Straight Edge (Don't drink alcohol, do any drugs, and don't have promiscuous sex). They finally "lost their edge", or how it's termed in the sXe community, "broke". And they've never been happier than now that they have drugs and sex. | |

I actually tend to agree with Koch on it. Lvl, a lot of MSI's songs have way more in-depth meanings if you listen to them, so I wouldn't be surprised if this had to do with Royal Inbreeding. Before reading Koch's interpretation, however, I always took this song as a kid who was upset because they weren't molested by their parents, and the kid narrator had a sibling or something that was. They felt jealous and unloved, because in their mind's eye, their sibling was getting special treatment. |

Now, this is an in depth look at what this song means to me. The short of it is that it reminds me of a friend of mine, who I used to go out with, who I still love even years later, as well as several friends of mine who all seem to think they're in love with me. Usually in-depth summaries like this are attempts to analyze the lyrics in general, but this is just specific to me. “Do I say goodbye? Shut the door and close your eyes Or wait until tomorrow?” Should I leave you right now, or should I wait until some other time? ”We let this burn a little longer, until we grow stronger Until we fall apart” Burn the way passion burns hot, love each other until we’re strong enough to admit we don’t really love each other, until our relationship is in shambles. ”Say goodbye, and take both of my hands You've danced your last dance Why don't you dance it for us?” We’re over. But you’re just an entertainer. Entertain us, one more time. ”Take this dance as our last goodbye You've danced your last dance Why don't you dance it for us?” This is our last moment with each other. I won’t be back. Entertain us. ”It's been too long, and you're never coming back It's no good saying sorry” I know I said I’m never coming back, but neither are you, even though deep down I still want to be with you. No amount of apologizing will ever let you come back. ”We let this burn a little longer, until we grow stronger Until we fall apart” We hate each other, until we grow strong enough to admit that we still actually love each other. Until we’re ready to die without each other. “I fall, I'm not for you I'm not for you I'm not for you” You deserve someone better than me. That’s why I left you, and why I act like I hate you, and why I try to force you to hate me. I’m not the person for you. |

Take this out of terms of Trent the person and into terms of the plot of the album, this song is probably about the Narrator of The Downward Spiral/The Fragile (often considered to be the same). At the end, there's a sample from the song "Mr. Self Destruct" off of TDS. That's what really gives me this feeling. No matter what the Narrator does or tries, he can't get away from using Sex and Drugs as his escapism. |

Any followers of the ARG- Am I the only one that believes the few possible "romantic" parts of this album might be Angry Sniper remembering Mallory? The more of the ARG I read, the more I believe that Angry Sniper is *the* main character of this album, the narrator in the sense that there was a narrator for The Downward Spiral, with a few exceptions. |

| Kill Hannah – New Heart For Christmas Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Every time I listen, I get a mental image of a mostly-abandoned pier. The kind of place where, other than employees(who are still hired for God knows why), no one really goes. But maybe it just seems that way because it's off-peak season. After all, who goes to places like that around Christmas? But this is one song that, for me, doesn't translate into someone dumping Matt. To me, it seems that the singer (who's point of view the song is from) lost someone in a more permanent way, like death. And all he has left is the memories of what they used to do together, like ride the ferris wheel and watch the manequins in the windows. Just the mental image I always get. The kind of scene I would expect in a movie playing it in the background. |

| Nine Inch Nails – Zero-Sum Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
If I may give some stolen insight from Wikipedia: "Zero-sum describes a situation in which a participant's gain or loss is exactly balanced by the losses or gains of the other participant(s)." That is, Zero-sum in game theory, not Zero-sum in Year Zero. However, Trent is a smart man, and there had to have been a reason why he picked this title. Zero-sum means that in the end, everything comes out even. However... A Zero-sum game, such as Chess or Go, is a game that can't have all participants be winners. So which use? |

The line is "Enacting Sibyl Vane" Sibyl Vane was a character in "The Picture of Dorian Gray"(a book by Oscar Wilde from which I take my name). She was a poor, but beautiful, actress, who committed suicide after Dorian dumped her. |

Mrtinkertrain- if you still check this, I'm rather certain it's "It's a very little penis, and I'm happy to say, It's a little penis come to visit you today!" Jimmy kicks all. They do rather awesome covers of rap songs. First this, then Big Poppa by Notorious B.I.G. I'd like to see them tackle Hit 'em Up by 2Pac, personally. |
