Brandon Heath – Red Sky Lyrics 16 years ago
i think it's a prayer- he's asking God to show him a "sign" (red sky) not because he doesn't know if God exists, but because he needs to be comforted tonight. the angelic symphony is just a metaphor for peace or comfort during the difficult times. the "difficult time" seems like it's more of a dull, chronic problem and not necessarily one specific incidence. i think he is getting bummed about the selfishness and lack of eternal-perspective seen on earth that he sees in a lot of people(like from the man on his street).

i'm guessing it's hard for him to live in a world where so many people are so concerned about silly, petty things when our eyes should be on God. i think everyone needs a red sky from God now and again, if only to keep on keepin' on.

John Denver – Annie's Song Lyrics 17 years ago
I adore this song. It is one of the greatest love songs ever written. I know this song was written about his wife, but I can't help but think of all types of love (lovers, friends, children, parents etc) when I hear this song. I noticed someone commented that he sang this song to his child and I can understand why. The lyrics, though noticeably about a lover, continue to remind me of my grandma and a grandparent's love for their grandchild.

"Come let me love you, let me give my life to you.
Let me drown in your laughter, let me die in your arms."

This part, especially the part about "drowning in your laughter," makes me think of a grandparent speaking to their grandchild.

Elisa – Dancing Lyrics 18 years ago
well i've done a lot of thinking about this song and here are my thoughts:

i think the girl singing did something wrong - perhaps put her career or something else before her love. she is now realizing (maybe after she lost him) that "it's all about love" and "i know better" now. and "how life is a waving feather" means life is so precious to be caught up in school or career or anything else because the only thing that matters is love.

and then the chorus..she puts her arms around him because she physically is trying to keep him or get him back. she truly has changed and realizes what she wants and is doing everything in her power to have her love forgive her.

now towards the end "time still exists" for me symbolizes hope. maybe he won't take her back or understand her at first, but maybe, just maybe, with a little time, he will. someday.

Jars of Clay – Even Angels Cry Lyrics 19 years ago
hey faith, i think you nailed it in your last line of your post: it's okay to cry.

i think that as beautiful as this song is, it has a simple message; life is hard but it's ok because it's hard for everyone and it's ok to get down about everything sometimes.

death and heartache surround us much more than we could ever imagine and life is going to get you down, but thats completely normal. and it's also completely normal to cry about it.

but i also think that the song is about hope. throughout all this bad stuff we encounter, pleasant things are around us too. When they write, "I saw a woman with ribbons in her hair, old and lonely...so beautiful I had to stop and stare, the well will not run dry," I am reminded that life is still worth living every day because of these simple pleasures. The beauty in simple life will keep you going.

And remember (even though the song doesn't say it) that although everyone grieves differently, it's okay and usually good when we let people in.

Faith, I'm truly sorry for your loss - even still, I urge you to love life anyway and live your life to the fullest every day. I'll pray for you.

Damien Rice – 9 Crimes Lyrics 19 years ago
songs like these make me not want to interpret, but just love. it's like sometimes we analyze things to their deaths and for some reason, i don't want to do that with this song - it's too beautifully raw.

Sia – Breathe Me Lyrics 19 years ago
i appreciate what you guys said about what "breathe me" means to you...the way i see it is breathe me, like fill me up, simply, help me, i'm suffering and i need someone. she speaks about feeling empty and the way to fill her up is for someone to not literally breathe into her, but help her - hold her hand while she gets her life back.

the song is about hope: at least she's reaching out asking for someone to breathe her
