Kind of sounds to me as he's describing religion or his savior turning his back on him. Lying to him maybe...? |

I get the feeling he's talking about somebody who he wants to be with. When he's not around them he forgets about them so they are out of his mind and he's not so lonely when he's by himself. Then when they're back around him he remembers that he misses them and that he can't be with them so he feels lonely again. |

it's just a clever spin on lonlieness, i don't think he's actually talking about space travel, he's talking about doing something everybody wants to do at some point, which is go it on their own, but found out pretty quick that they need human contact. |

Berman was born in 1967 so in 1984 he'd be approaching his 18th birthday. He could say it like that to maybe show he was young and arrogant? It could just be a joke. I don't know. It is a great song though. |
