When she says "yeah, yeah, yeah" in the last verse, does anybody else notice a slight similarity to the Beatles singing "yeah, yeah, yeah" in "She Loves You"? I know that Regina every now and then will incorporate other songs within her songs (ex. BYOS and "My Favorite Things", Raindrops, Daniel Cowman and "Strangers in the Night", etc.) and I was just wondering if I was nuts to see a similarity there.....

When I heard the song, I interpreted her as saying, "My heart eats BEETS". I can sort of see her saying this because beets are red, and blood is red (and beets will actually turn your urine red if you eat too many...) All in all, it could be a loose association with the amount of love she has in her heart for the object of her affection being portrayed in the redness of the blood that flows through her heart.....but wait, I could be taking this too far......P.S. I heart Regina! |

I'm almost sure that the part in the middle says, "once -u-pon-a-time - there were th-ree bears....th-reeeeee bearsss-"
but I could be wrong.....
Anyway, that bit at the end that sounds like a chainsaw solo in overdrive always makes my day. |

I think that this song is about sleeping through life with the imagery of one of those lonely, grey, overcast New York winter days that occur from time to time as the backdrop. (Anyone who's ever lived there from Sept. to around March knows what I mean.)
Maybe it's more directly about a guy who leaves to go to work in the morning and see's his wife whom he loves before he goes - and he feels that unique feeling of being someone different, but really, he's just another generic person off to their generic job in their generic car stuck in the same routine.
I always thought that the brrrrs at the end where supposed to be the sounds of the cars (maybe like the Jetsons cars lol).
I dunno really. Cool song, though! |

I think that this song is simply about prisoners serving life sentences. duh. It's about life in prison. The idea that most inmates are uneducated or undereducated and that a better education could have paved a better way for them. If perhaps (and possibly sarcastically) let's say, the inmate was introduced to literature as a child, maybe he wouldn't be in that situation. The key word is LIFE sentence - his mom probably doesn't visit anymore as time goes by and that's where the line "someday I will remember her" probably comes from. (listening closely, I really think she says "her" at the end of the line) . Also, This song freakin' rocks. |

I noticed that you can rearrange the letters in Prejektorinski to spell rejinki spektor. I just thought it was humorous......btw, I saw her perform this last night in Phoenix, it was a very nice song. |

If I'm not mistaken, (and I could be wrong here...), FDR had something to do with the National Firearms Act which required guns to be registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms and Tobacco in the 1930's after a botched assassination attempt by an unknown gunman as well as other violent incidents that occured during prohibition at the time with the intent of eliminating gunviolence in America. This may be what the first couple of lines could be referencing.....
...........Regina rocks! |

A song with both emotion and an enjoyable beat. You can listen to it in any mood. I have to stop everything I'm doing when I hear the second part. I saw a video on Google with some kids playing a version of this with - if I remember correctly - Xylophones, A piano, a bass, drums, and some other instruments....it was a great effort.
By the way, does anyone know what the correct time signature is for the second part? I just recently started studying music and stuff like that and I was just wondering.... |

This is just an awesome opening bit with the surface noise and old timey feel before the bass starts on the next track. While I'm at a stop light or pulling out of a parking lot, I like to play this loud just so it will lead into the deep rumble of Fixed Income to start my drive while people who don't know what real music is look on curiously.
Most people won't consider bits like this "music" as they see it as useless talking - so you won't hear this on your FM dial anytime soon - but audio bits are a great way to convey an emotion or just experiment with sounds and samples you can find (like Revolution 9 on a larger scale for example - not that I'm comparing though....)
I don't really know if this track has a meaning outside of sampling purposes, but I just had to get that off my chest - and so ends my rant |

I like how the reverb from the amp at the end of the song sounds sort of like water dripping at the end. This song sums up how I feel most of the time. |

This tracks got a nice mechanical repetition. The opening beat is very similar to the beat AFX used in PWSteal.Ldpinch.D in the Analord series, just a tad bit slower......maybe because the same type of equipment was used? |

I think it's the song placed between Mean Mr. Mustard and Polythene Pam. Pam takes him to look at the queen and this is probably his song for her (though it's not 'obscene' because he probably needs a 'belly full of wine' to have the guts to tell the queen those things). Think about it and the song fits. |

Revolution 9 was a tape experiment. Yes, it is eerie, but a tape experiment was all that it was. It was also influenced by Stockhausen I believe. Of course, I could be wrong.
