Love this song, and no, as has been previously argued, not every SOAD song is an OMGANGRYWARSONG. I'd say the mild self-mockery (most loneliest, etc.) is just kind of to validate the song - the song's sad, but not emo, because it doesn't take itself -too- seriously. |

This is the only MSI song I really dislike. I'm not emo or goth, but emo bashing gets really, really, really, really, REALLY old. At this point, it's been done to death by zillions of bands/websites/etc. Any kind of bashing also seems to frequently spawn craploads of mindless angry people, anti-emos in this case, which are about as annoying as the real thing. "OMG YEAH THOSE ARE SUCH STUPID FUCKERS THEY SHOULD ALL DIE FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!!!1" ('Cause, you know, the more you say "fuck," the cooler you are. Bonus points for creating bizarre new compound words with it. Even more for adding all caps.) ...of course, there are no examples of what I'm describing in, say, the post above me. *cough* I refuse to be alienated, though. Hah! >.> |

^ xD Anyway, this song always struck me as something quite different than most of you here seem to think. It seems to me like they're mocking their fanbase, especially all the people who think "Yeah, MSI's on my side, against the stupid MFs of the world." This would kinda be supported by that bit "yo, they think you're dumb, I think you're smart. No, wait, I lied - I think you're dumb." Even more so by the beginning "Is it simple enough for you? Does everybody understand? Are you all still following me?" Really sounds like it's aimed at MSI fans. I also see msichris's point of view here, too. Regardless, this song is still awesome. (p.s. if I'm right, the "get it? get it? get it? you just don't get it!" part would also fit in pretty well.) |
