Correct Lyrics: I judge by what she's wearing just how many heads im tearing off of assholes coming on to her (each night seems like its getting worse) and i wish she'd take the night off so I dont have to bite off every asshole coming on to her (it happens every night she works) they'll go and ask the DJ By now just what would she say if they all tried coming on to her (dont they know its never gonna work) they think they'll get inside her with every drink they buy her as they all try coming on to her (this time somebodies getting hurt) here comes the next contestant is that. your hand. on my. girlfriend. is that. your hand? i wish you'd do it again (I'd watch you leave here limping) i wish you'd do it again (I'd watch you leave here limping) There goes the next contestant I even fear the ladies they're cool but twice as crazy just as bad for coming onto her (dont they know its never gonna work) and each time she bats an eyelash somebodie's grabbing her ass everyone keep's coming on to her (this time somebodies getting hurt) here comes the next contestant is that. your hand. on my. girlfriend. is that. your hand? i wish you'd do it again (I'd watch you leave here limping) i wish you'd do it again (I'd watch you leave here limping) There goes the next contestant Im hating what she's wearing everybody here keeps staring Can't wait till they get what they deserve (this time somebodie's getting hurt) here comes the next contestant is that. your hand. on my. girlfriend. is that. your hand? i wish you'd do it again (I'd watch you leave here limping) i wish you'd do it again (I'd watch you leave here limping) i wish you'd do it again (each night seems like its getting worse) i wish you'd do it again (this time somebodie's getting hurt) There goes the next contestant |

| Nine Inch Nails – The Great Destroyer Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| you see where after the second chorus ends and we get a massive barrage of electronic noises and screeching, has it made anyone think of an explosion? Possibly "The Great Destroyer" has destroyed or damaged some type of communications centre or satellite? quite abstract, I know, but it ties in with Be The Hammer Not The Anvils "CARVER" idea. Its possible the point of view this song is sung from, is that of a person who has decided to use AngrySniper's idea, and fuck up some type of structure of government control. Just a little thought | |
| Nine Inch Nails – In This Twilight Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I believe its a mixture of armaggedon AND a nuclear explosion. "dust to dust, the ashes in your hair remind me..." makes us think nuclear holocaust but the line "the sun crawls across the sky a final time" shows us that the Sun will never rise or set again. No nuclear bomb can destroy the Sun, and this suggests that the World, and the Sun and Everything is coming to an end. This is reinforced by the song Zero Sum which pretty much clarifies on the fact that this song is about the end of Everything. | |
| Nine Inch Nails – Another Version of the Truth Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
The beginning of the song, the distortion, is the exact copy of what is used in the promotional video (with the car driving, the sign saying "i am trying to believe" and the Prescence reaching down) I think this song is quite ethereal, its as if all the songs before this are very much humanized with human's points of views, human's faith, human's reactions. But this song is a sudden break, it's tranquillity makes everyone pause and suddenly realise that their power struggles and all the fighting and war and sadness and totalitarianism is pointless, that the HyperPower that is America is powerless, because now the end has come. It provides a bridge between everyone's fears and hopes, and the actual arrival of the End, and of the Prescence. |

Abit more. "All bruised and broken, bleeding She asked to take my hand I turned, just keep on walking But you'd do the same thing in the circumstance I'm sure you'll understand" I think this could be either or both of 2 things: 1) Hes talking about Nature. We know what we are doing to the planet, the damage we are causing, but we ignore it anyways. We continue to pollute this world. Its saying we are turning our back on Mother Nature. We've left her "all bruised and broken" from our existance. 2)It could be the oppressed in this futuristic society. This song could be someone's reflection on society, and a person could have literally asked to take his hand. He, in turn, ignored it, because that's what anyone else in his situation would do. |

If you have checked out any of the Viral Marketing campaign, this makes alot of sense. Wikipedia "Year Zero" and it's quite an interesting read. What's it about? Well, it takes place about fifteen years in the future. Things are not good. If you imagine a world where greed and power continue to run their likely course, you'll have an idea of the backdrop. "The world has reached the breaking point - politically, spiritually and ecologically. Written from various perspectives of people in this world, "year zero" examines various viewpoints set against an impending moment of truth. How does it sound? You will hear for yourself soon enough, but given the point of this document is to provide information..." Anyways, regarding the song. I think its about how we are screwing over our planet. "She gave us all she had but We went and took some more" Basically it's saying that Mother Nature, the Earth, has given us plenty of resources. Us humans, however, are completely leeching anything of worth off this planet, we are taking more then there is to be given. The second verse describes a totalitarian society, abit like that of Half Life 2! The people within society do not realise what is happening until it is staring them right in their faces, and the fact remains that they had the power to stop all this from happening, but didnt. "You see your world on fire Don't try to act surprised We did just what you told us" The Chorus just shows of how we are used to seeing the world and its events. "I got my violence In hi-def ultra-realism" I think this shows that we are being dulled to wars and poverty, etc, we have become used to it. We are shown the horrors of this world on the news via our latest technologies, such as tv on your mobile, or Hi-Definition television, and we just accept it. yeah, i've written loads, im done. |
