| When he says HOV, he's referring to the "High Occupancy Vehicle" or carpool lane. It's a special lane on the highway where only cars that have two or more people can drive. You get a major ticket if you get caught driving in it with only you in the car. It generally moves faster than the other lanes. If he had someone else in the car... such as someone he loved (couples in love in the HOV) he'd be moving. He's emphasizing how alone he is. | |

well, also, think about the other songs... In Boston, his love(?) leaves him from LA to go to Boston, right? maybe this song is how he's dealing with it.... so when he says, "all the stars and boulevards ain't close enough to you" he means LA (where he is) isn't close enough to where she is....? and "it’s not like I ain’t trying to get over you it’s just hard to look at all the seasons pass me over too" makes me think that in this case time does not "heal all"... ? |

hm. I think this song is making fun of love.... I think it's full of sarcasm... "we'll take our chances. we'll last a month. we'll never speak again. how i love being in love."... i think it's poking fun at the people who are always like "OH I'M IN LOOOOVE!" especially when they're young...you know... those people in your life who talk about nothing but their significant other... and sometimes seem to boasting about it... and you're so fed up that you begin to think that this whole "love" thing is actually nonexistant... it surely isn't a romantic song. it's really quite bitter in my perspective... i dunno.. maybe i'm just a pessimist. |
