Boy oh boy! I almost forgot my own opinion reading all the comments. Okay. I agree with it all. You all have good evidence. But for me the line, which is also the headline on my myspace, "I am a machine. No longer living, just a shell of what I dream" personally means a lot to me. On the inside I am one kind of person but on the outside I try to better myself and it's already become like breathing. Being the opposite of what I am, the opposite of what I hate, is one of my fantasies. Probably my main one in life. But that's me. And even though the argument is over, being an athiest is to not believe in a god or a high being. If you do believe in one and call yourself athiest then you either got the religion mixed with one that sounds like it such as agnostic or you just don't know what you're saying. Me, personally I'm more towards the belief in more than one ""Creator" due to the fact that a Man, seeing as God is percieved as a male more than a female, cannot create life on his own, just like a woman can't either. But that's just me too. Also, no one here is a moron. So one person is confused or they are sharing what they've been told. So another thinks the songs hidden meaning is about religion or dreams or something completely different. It's their opinion. You're being childish for calling someone a name. You're proving that you're just like everyone else by bad-mouthing someone of a different religion or "intelligence level" if you will. It's close to being racist if not already there. So they don't share your beliefs or opinion whoopdy doo! Go jump in a lake for all anyone cares if they care at all. If anything, you're the moron for calling them one. Once again, that's just me. I had to listen to the song a second time to remember what I had been meaning to say. This song is my absolute favorite. It holds a lot of meaning for me and in my own way I can definitely relate to it. Hope everything I said/typed makes sense. I actually have a longer opinion on the song but it's after 5 in the a.m. and I'm too tired to. I've typed enough. |

I totally agree with MrFokker! I always wish that some guy on the run or a group of people part of a prophecy or something will show up and I'll some how end up with them to have a wonderful experience. It's gotten so bad now that I start to mix reality with my dreams and it's getting kind o creepy. Anyhoo, great song! Loved it! The Fantasy is still my number 1 song. |

I agree with maxgreen. It could be an inner conflict.
"Why are you here, are you listening? Can you hear what I am saying? I am not here, I'm not listening... I'm in my head and I'm spinning." Sounds like he's talking to himself in a sense. As if he has someone else inside him. When he repeats it, it's like he's frustrated or something with whoever he's talking to and then the voice that replies(which could be in his head) is calm. And "Is this who you are? Some sweet violent urge. A weak fallen man with the promise of an end?" is almost like he's reprimanding himself or something. But that's just what I think. I have an idea on the second verse though. But oh well. I could be wrong. I've never tried to interpret a song before. All in all, it's a great song. My personal favorite is The Fantasy. |
