| Brand New – Jesus Christ Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song is an amazingly honest plight of someone who's clung to their faith in God, regardless of many hardships they've faced along the way. I think it ultimately lies in the singer finding a "perfect mate"; one who would allow them to step up to the plate in their faith in Love and God. But, being "only human", they are afraid they will let not only this deserving person down, but, also, themselves, and, thereby, God in the process. I could go on an on, but will spare the rest to your brilliant imaginations!! Thanks for taking the time to read my ideas. I'd LOVE to hear any and ALL feedback from my fellow lyrics freaks! :) xoxo |

| I'm sure of one thing. Songs find you. You don't find them. | |
| Tom Petty – Saving Grace Lyrics | 18 years ago |

What Does This Song Mean To You? To me: This feels like an angelic spirit is being addressed (no pun intended). ;) Tom (Petty) is simply talking from experience. He's been everywhere; done everything. He knows where every road leads, because he's been down every one. And, like a former Refugee stated: "There's nothing new under the sun. All the roads lead to Rome. And people cannot provide it for you. I can't wake you up. You can wake you up. I can't cure you. You can cure you.- John Lennon He's just relating to everyone out there in the world who's STILL searching. He's saying; "Trust me; you can't tell me shit. I hope you'll wake up; but, I'm not an alarm; just a messenger. You'll eat when you're hungr You'll wake up when you're tired of dreaming." “All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring; renenwed shall be blade that was broken, the crownless again shall be king.” - J.R.R. Tolkien I think that pretty much sums it up. God Bless |

| Dark New Day – Free Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Searchingmyself: I think the line "Can you live without one red cent?" is simple and sincere in otherwise asking "Is one more penny in your pocket really gonna make life different for you? Is it really going to make you as free and happy as you thought it would? Is it our perception or rejection of life that holds us prisoner?" | |
| Tom Petty – Room At The Top Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Pinkfloyd4241 is quite the intelligent/introspective one! Thanks for the additional information. I read that Gwyneth Paltrow saw him play about 5 nights in a row somewhere/somehow, and requested that song every time; and, every time; he refused. He's such a magnificent songwriter, itt kills me... (or, in this case; Wrecks Me). | |
| Norah Jones – Broken Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I think she wrote this for all the broken men out there. I think the paint is representation of pain And the purple is physical/emotional death "I saw him standing alone, under a broken street light" She's noticing a broken man in the dark, under a broken street light (no streetlight, but she SAW, knowing that both were broken) So sincere ... singing silent night, (He really means it) But the trees were full ... and the grass was green, It was the sweetest thing I had ever seen. (She saw the Beauty beneath the boil. The beautiful pain.) He may move slow, But that don't mean he's going nowhere, He may be moving slow, But that don't mean he's going nowhere. (He is ALIVE) ( 1 |

| I see "six gun quota" as a six pack of beer. If you read the rest of the lyrics; it's certainly feasible. IMHO | |
| Tom Petty – Room At The Top Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is a song that Petty won't sing in concert; because he said it reminds him of an extremely low place in his life. I think it's a sad, lonely song, in which, drugs and alcohol were his accommodations. | |
