| Smile Empty Soul – Dopamine Lyrics | 2 years ago |
Sean Danielsen of Smile Empty Soul: "The video just portrays an addiction to media and ignoring personal relationships, it keeps it pretty simple, but the song is about a lot of things combined into one thing. I like to allow people to judge what they think the song might mean with the lyrics, I won’t go too deep into it, but I always try to put more than one meaning into my songs these days, to find it to be a little fun exercise." | Mnemic – Diesel Uterus Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Commented guitarist Mircea Gabriel Eftemie: "'Diesel Uterus' is probably one of the heaviest songs in terms of tuning. We still maintained the brutality but mixed it with some really beautiful melodies that can be heard in the chorus. The vocals had lot of room to unfold as heard in the chorus and throughout the song. It is mid-tempo pretty much all the way, and the middle part — or c-section, if you will — becomes rather progressive and more melodic than the chorus. "The lyrics are about the way technology has changed our way of living. Everybody is dependent on digital devices, mobile phones, computers and especially the Internet. If we have Google Earth, what does the military have? Are we safe at all? And is abundance of information a good thing? Definitely good, if you know how to avoid the bad things. The main point is that we should adapt to technology in a correct and balanced way. In reality, we do waste a lot of time. An aspect of the Internet is that we end up watching the world most of the day through a screen. It is definitely a heavy topic that requires debate and a heavy song!" | Dark Tranquillity – Iridium Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Mikael Stanne: "I accept the idea that on cosmic level nothing can stay forever. There is an end to everything, nothing's eternal. Even the small particles in the atmosphere will disintegrate and nothing will be left of them. I think it's a perfect ending for the album." | Dark Tranquillity – Surface the Infinite Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Mikael Stanne: "To reveal something that's always been there. According to me this song corresponds very well with the album cover - you have to bring out your void, show it. To be proud of that abyss you carry in yourself, not ashamed of it. We all try to make excuses in order to continue to live normally among people, but I don't think that's necessary. It's needless and stupid." | Dark Tranquillity – I Am the Void Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Mikael Stanne: "About the void that awaits us after we die. This force pulls us towards itself, although we fight and try to go back. Everybody feels numb with horror, because we know that infinite darkness awaits us." | Dark Tranquillity – Arkhangelsk Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Mikael Stanne: "I would say this song is mostly about depression. The lyrics were written by Niklas and his inspiration came from the Russian Arkhangelsk seaport city, which is situated in the Far North. During winter, because of the bad weather and the frozen sea, the city is completely isolated from the rest of the world. Suicides increase their frequency, because it's like the whole existence of these people is suspended for an indefinite period of time. When it's so cold and dark, you start to unconsciously turn off your life support systems one by one." | Dark Tranquillity – At The Point Of Ignition Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Mikael Stanne: "It poses the question: who are you? The one that follows or the one that leads? Are you willing to create something new or you prefer to use something ready? Whether you burn and pursue your aim at any cost or slowly move in an indefinite direction?" | Dark Tranquillity – The Grandest Accusation Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Mikael Stanne: "A song about a life, in which you couldn't reach the pinnacle of your potential. To me, it's the most dreadful feeling, you could ever feel at all. You've missed a lot of opportunities, you haven't tried everything you could as a human - here's the grandest accusation that could be made against you." | Dark Tranquillity – In My Absence Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Mikael Stanne: "As the title suggests, it's about being far from the ones you love. You are sorry that you haven't done everything you could for them. You are separated from what's most important for you in your life. But it's a feeling we've pretty much lost today." | Dark Tranquillity – The Fatalist Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Mikael Stanne: You know, every day we meet people with a fatalistic view on life. They have given up beforehand. You may lose, you may be unsuccessful in your enterprise - then why even make efforts for something that might fail. I am not the most positive person on earth, but at least I'm trying... By the way, this phenomenon is rather widespread in Scandinavian countries. I feel it everywhere around me and it irritates me to a great extent. | Dark Tranquillity – Dream Oblivion Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Mikael Stanne: According to this song, our dreams and subconsciousness are the key to what's going to happen in the future. Loss, grief and death are the main subjects of the album and Dream Oblivion reproduces a long dream - it's not so much a metaphor for death, as it is for an obsessive feeling of doom. You are having a dream of nightmarish pictures, until you finally realize, that you're actually seeing the future. | Dark Tranquillity – Shadow in Our Blood Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Mikael Stanne: "It's about a person, having a fatal disease, fighting with the thought that he's about to die soon. That evil lives inside him and may put him to an end any moment. This song reveals the thoughts that go through his mind."
