... Actually, I can't really even see the God-related interpretations from my own point of view. For me this is by far the most personal song on the album. Being in a difficult relationship with a person who struggles with a serious depression, these lyrics are something that I would like to say to my partner as well - although I'm no cure - to make sure he knows I'll be around through his weakest moments, too. I know these interpretations with all this relationship stuff is usually boring and all, but this was quite an instant association for me. |

It's a homosexual relationship (in my own mind at least). Oh God, I don't know why I'm thinking that way, and it doesn't really matter if it is or is not, but: "I know we'll make it anywhere Away from here" There are too many people who don't understand their relationship because they don't understand gay people. They'd make it work somewhere else where the atmosphere would be more tolerant. They're breaking up against their own will, however. (e.g. "To think I might not see those eyes Makes it so hard not to cry And as we say our long goodbye I nearly do") Well, okay - this might be about heterosexual relationship, too. |

"And the solider not afraid to die sounds to me like all of the middle eastern suicide bombers." Oh - I was thinking mostly about American soldiers. "Happy to die for my country" and all that bullshit. Of course not only them, I just somehow associated it with that. Maybe because of the part 'Well I am scared' -> it's so weird if even a soldier's not afraid to die. |

| I just somehow don't think the song would be about a relationship when you think about Neon Bible as a whole. Sure it's easy to associate the lyrics to that, but somehow I just can't help thinking about the restlessness, despair and turmoil that people have to confront in their lives (all over the world). | |
