Definition: SKAN In Lakota mythology, Skan is the supreme creator god, who made the world and the beings in it according to the number four. He is also the judge of both dead human souls and the gods themselves. And I agree with ilvive about the meaning behind the song. I always thought of the narrator being visited by Skan in a dream. Seeing as Skan is the judge of human souls, he helps to decide their fate. The narrator is tempted by Skan to leave his life behind, even if leaving doesn't make much sense. |

i love this song. what i got out of it is that she's in love with someone and she's trying to tell herself that it will work out. when in reality its not going to happen and he's not worth it. so she's asking herself "what the fuck was i thinking?," meaning why did she ever fall for him and why did she ever think things could work out. when she says "love grows in me like a tumor / love plows through me like a dozer / love tears me up like a demon" shes saying she doesnt want to be in love because she knows he wont return the feelings. but in the back of her mind shes hoping. "you know that i've got what you want" |
