I've been reading a lot of these reviews n opinions on the song, and I figured i might as well add my own view on it.. To sound conservative (although im far from it; i dont follow a religion at all), i honestly think the song is describing a 'transformation/conversion' i dont know how to explain it - its just in the way it sounds, like when someone has reached as low as they can go and religion/God/faith suddenly seems to be like a way out, a shred of hope. The mentioning of Prison gates is the lowest point they can go (maybe not in the literal sense but in terms of entrapment) The whole "i'll show you what i can be" is probably a reference to the feeling that new believers feel that they feel bad about their past actions and their lack of belief - and their want of redemption for past actions. the reference to the 18th floor might be to do with pleading for a break for whatever situation he is in - wanting proof of God's existance by deliverance from his trials. |
