wow thanks RayMan, I never looked at it like that before. I think you really have something there. I don't think she's much to do with Aqualung, apart from maybe identifying with him a little bit, as he's another casualty of society broken and unable to function in the manner expected. |

just to clarify the meaning of the word "sod" in England...... the collins english dictionary will probably talk about lumps of grass and yes if you're a bit posh/upper class maybe thats what it means to you (or if you play polo dahleeeng). But genrally sod is an olde worlde insult thats become watered down over the years. It's less to do with grass and more to do with a**. Probably in victorian times or earlier it was a massive insult to be called a sodomite, but now the shortrened version is the type of curse your granny might use. My mum would often call me a little sod when I was younger and getting up to no good. |

cap in hand is an old way of saying you are being humble possibly after realising you have wronged someone. He's walked out on someone he loves, took some time to think it over and realised his mistake and come back "cap in hand" to ask for forgiveness........... but as jcaudio says just a little too late. |
