They closed their Paramount concert last night with this song, for anyone who was there wasn't it craaaazzzzyyyy good. His voice was totally cracked and raw by the end, he just kept repeating the "cheer up baby" lyrics and it was just phonomenal. |

I agree with MouseFan there is a melancholy element to their music which is so distinctly Pacific Northwest, I've lived in Seattle my whole life & so many of the songs remind me (whatever the content) of changing seasons & this sort of blanket of grey that covers the city for so many months. If you live around here I think you get it and every lyrics meaning is not quite as important. |

Anyone who doubts this song is about the Woody Allen film should see it, it makes the song even more beautiful, but it's all there the mother, the 3 girls, the father meeting his new wife on a Greek island, the daughter who is angry at the wedding, the mother comes cleans it up and runs into the East Hampton sea (ocean) |

Death Cab is so amazing I saw Interiors years ago and instantly realized that the song was about the film. So few bands can paint such vivid pictures in my mind without my even realizing it. Plus the vocals are so beautiful. |

Anyone who loves Nirvana/Kurt should really read Heavier than Heaven it is the most detailed biography I've ever read on anyone & answers alot of questions about song meanings, especially since if you read it you learn how Kurt fabricated a huge percent of things in interviews (even in his journals) and so much of what is written is false, Also I don't know if most people are kidding or not but Courtney Love was in an in-patient rehab facility in California when Kurt killed himself & with his resistance to heroin his overdose would not be instant plus he had an autopsy and it was determined that even though he probably would have died of an overdose the gunshot killed him 1st |

I've read numerous times Courtney Love gave Kurt Pennyroyal tea to help combat his chronic stomache pain. The "distill the life that's inside of me" part probably refers to the fact that historically women have used Pennyroyal as a way to self-induce abortion, to me this fits perfectly |

Wow, everyone is so catty. The thing I love about this song is I was listening to it without even thinking about the lyrics meanings and it painted such a vivid picture without even realizing it. But I think it is prob. a more simplistic song about airplanes which is awesome because they take something simple and make such poetry. |
