Immortal Technique – Industrial Revolution Lyrics 15 years ago
word dude. his shows are as much a rally as they are a concert.
this guy is leading the charge on all of the damaging ideologies that are choking out our country.
I just wish that he had more support-from rappers and from the rest of society.

Lupe Fiasco – Superstar Lyrics 17 years ago
"Like the governor called
And they told him to wait
Un-strap him from the chair
And put him back in his cage
The audience ain't fazed
And they ain't gone clap and they ain't gone praise
They want everything back that they paid
Cuz they been waiting since ten to see the lights get dim"

This part is talking about a Superstar's revival back into fame by whoever's pulling the strings like "The Governor", because they were about to "die" or burn out of their fame. Then he talks about the audience right after that waiting for the lights to go dim, or the execution to take place, as in turning down the lights before a show begins, or also the lights to dim for a moment from the electric chair switch being thrown. This is him subtly making a commentary about peoples love of the downfall of a superstar, case in point, Britney Spears.
I love how many hidden meanings Lupe's music holds.

I think its also notable that that line also sounds like like foreplay less sexist, which may or may not be accidental, but also conveys the idea that women are often objectified, and therefore in foreplay there needs are not always met by a guy if hes being selfish. Argument for taking a dive? Its a definite possibility.

Bold statement, considering you know nothing about this person, save for a lyric that they must enjoy.
No it's alright brokenfireescape, judging people based on next to nothing is considered a Good thing, now.
Hey! My username is a take on a lyric I enjoy as well, would you mind analyzing my grip on the real world?

Cursive – The Recluse Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this song may be written about the first time he sleeps with someone who he's been dating for a short time, where they're still in that early, somewhat awkward phase of the relationship where both are somewhat close (especially physically and romantically, hence him spending the night) but they're not necessarily too in touch emotionally(a woman's room he "hardly knows"), and he wonders about the notebooks that lie about her room and if they say "Shoo fly, don't bother me". Kasher is clearly the fly in this prolonged metaphor throughout the song, and the woman being the spider. Thus, she is The Recluse (spider, not hermit), and not him. He wonders if she truly likes him, or would rather he didn't bother her.
He becomes self-conscious, as he so often does, and then goes further wondering if she'll want to be with him again, and he'll lie in her bed again. (yes, you are that desperate, Mr Kasher, and we love you for it).
In retrospect, it seems the relationship has moved so fast, with him knowing so little about her, and he wonders exactly how he ended up where he is. He wondered why he slept with her, if he's just going to have to break up with her, just like the rest, his least favorite (or maybe secretly favorite, to those familiar with Tim Kasher's other songs) part of a relationship.
When he says "please don't barrage me with the questions to all these ugly answers", he could be addressing himself, or the owner of the bed. If its to himself, he might be trying not to torment himself, dwelling on his relationship 'issues', or if its to her, then he doesn't want to reveal the fact that he knows little to nothing about her.
If he's talking to himself, then the next line would make sense with the significance that even though he's sleeping with this girl, which in theory should make him feel better, it backfires, and his ego rejects it, and the fact that he feels guilty about being here just makes things worse.
The "maybe i don't wanna finish anything anymore," verse is him thinking, maybe we don't need to break up and I can just stay with her, and she'll really want to be with him, the females lines "You're in my web now..." being the opposite from "Shoo fly don't bother me", and it fits the metaphor for fly and spider, that she really wants him.
If she really does, then him singing home could signify that the relationship in question here was the one with his wife, and this is how it began, which would be pretty characteristic of Kasher, or perhaps it is just another relationship. I dunno.

But that's my two cents.

I could be wrong about that, but it seems that Tim Kasher's songs often have an artifice about them, a surface meaning, but there are deeper meanings underneath, because it seems pretty obvious that the song could apply to a one night stand, its just something about the end that made me think it could be something to the otherwise, and thinking about it from a different perspective, everything just seemed to add up.

Cursive – Into the Fold Lyrics 19 years ago
This is another beautiful song written by Tim Kasher about a character based on himself, much like how Bukowski based one of his oft used characters, Henry Chinaski upon himself. This song is about a man who takes advantage of a girl, but not forcibly like many people think, but rather through manipulation, like its a game. Again, the shepard is based upon Kasher, who is endlessly thinking and calculating, as he knows easily what to do and say, and is dealing with his own moral repercussions of being able to essentially control this girl who never did anything wrong, but to be naive and trusting. Songs like this are the reason that I love Tim Kasher so kenjennings much

The Decemberists – Shankill Butchers Lyrics 19 years ago
I love this song. It's like a cautionary lullaby from the days of yore in Ireland.
I've never heard an album so consistently full of beautiful and haunting songs, save for In the Aeroplane Over the Sea.

The Decemberists – The Perfect Crime #2 Lyrics 19 years ago
I gotta say, I enjoy every single song on this album, yes, even the catchy ones that other people would enjoy upon first listening. God forbid!
I'm sorry, is that indie taboo?

Anyways, as far as the Oceans 11 tie goes, I think its a bit farfetched, and way uncharacteristic as far as the songwriting goes.
