First off, I believe he is saying: "A world of treasons, and I'm their only escape" and "No one else here has conversations that drown them." I don't tend to think every song is about relationships, but this one I do believe is about one. It sounds like he is addressing someone already in a relationship that he is tempted to pursue (and she may be willing as well) 16 could be referencing the 16 personality types whereas the title is referencing the type three personality - one who has difficulty with intimacy and constantly needs validation. Whether this is true is one thing, and whether it is a reference to himself or the other person remains unknown - maybe both. In the end I think it's something of a lament because he is walking away due to his faith and not wanting to be that guy who helps break up a family or a relationship. It's almost like a second part to "Feel Good Drag" where he's learned his lesson |

I think this song is summed up by the line "The wait hurts worse than the blows". The way I interpret it is about going through hard times early in life that feel hopeless, and fearing what the future might bring. However, while evolving as a person and hanging in there comes the realization that the anticipation of the worst that could happen is often worse than what actually happens and the process of moving on. To break it down more, lines like: "Within a dream I had" and "Into a body I once knew" would be like looking back on a time in your life and not even feeling like it was you after being so far removed from it. "Built a mere kingdom of self abuse" would be part of the anticipation that is worse than the realization of something "Withstood a thought so sad, I had to laugh" - 'withstood' would be the keyword here, and it's like thinking back to a previous experience and you can't believe you were so worried about it at the time Anyway, that's just my take on it at the moment, maybe I'm onto something, and maybe I'm off, but it works for me... |

I think this song can apply to most anything that a person held high in their lives that didn't work out for one reason or another....typically a lover. On a personal level, I was extremely into hiphop music for the longest and abandoned making music and being involved in some business ventures within the music industry due to the overwhelming decadence of it all... when I listen to this song I think of how it still hurts to have to walk away from something I loved even though it was for the best. |
