| Something Corporate – Konstantine Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I love this song, but I'm upset that more people haven't really tried to give their own interpretation of this. Sure, I can relate this song to several different relationships or periods throughout my life, but no one has really mentioned how they personally think Andrew McMahon meant when he wrote this. My thoughts... "Konfusion with a K"==if this is about a girl, which is yet to be acknowledged, then I would assume that this girl Konstantine has been so confusing with her feelings for him that confusion can be spelt with a k, because now anything confusing can be related to Konstantine. as for the beginning when it says "i can't imagine all the people that you know and the places that u go when the lights are turned down low...im sleeping in between you and your big dreams." I would guess that means that (once again, if this is about a girl named Konstantine) that she was very ambitious and he views her as surpassing his knowledge and appreciation of everything. he is saying that she has such a great imagination that he can't even begin to understand. it says that she has such big, ambitious dreams, and it makes it seem as though he may not be involved in these "big dreams" of hers, when he says that he's "slipping in between" these big dreams of hers. this is slightly sad because he goes on to say that "it's always you in my big dreams" that all he cared about in his future was her, and that she was all he wanted and he was satisfied with just her. this is sad (to me at least) because his biggest dream is just being w/ her, and she wants more than just love, etc. as for the "four leaf clover" part, my best guess is that he wakes up there because since the relationship is over at that point, he wants to find a four leaf clover, which in old traditions is considered lucky and most people make a wish on them. so if he were to be in a whole field of 4 leaf clovers he could wish multiple times for the girl back. this just shows how much he could possibly miss her and either wants her back or for her to be happy. as for the stanza right before the first chorus "and you dont wanna be here in the future.." up till, "and it did, because of me.." i would interpret as being more about her big dreams and them not involving him. i also think it means that she doesn't reeally want to look into this and see that all these big hopes she has are really not ever going to happen for her, and he says its because of him (for whatever reasons that i cannot figure out) "and then you bring me home afraid to find out that you're alone" lyrics sound as though she realized she now sees that she lost him and (possbily??) her dreams/hopes, so in a last minute attempt to hold onto some dignity, she takes him home so she doesn't have to face being alone. the second verse about "i had these dreams in them i learned to play guitar" up till "then im sorry plz dont think this was easy" it totally sounds like he made the same mistake with her! he dragged her into his dreams of traveling the country with her and his music. it seems like it didn;t work out because he apologizes for hurting her, and in the next chorus it says that they both know what its like to be alone. so then i was reading the past posts of other people, and i kind of agree with them about the whole Konstantine thing. That Konstantine could either be a real girl or that it's something "Constant";;this girl was something/ someone that had always been constant in his life and would be forever more. i have some more interpretations for the rest of the song but i think i've written a lot a lot for now. please someone comment on how you think i did! thanks! i love something corporate. =] |

| Anberlin – Hello Alone Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This is truely a great song by Anberlin that talks about how people can stop caring and it may seem like no one cares about you, but God is always there for you and will always love you. Is this where the interstate ends? In coastal towns like this Waiting for my world to cave under We seem to invent ourselves (we seem to invent ourselves) In places left unknown If hope could only find me out In this first verse, it seems that Christian is talking about hiding from God in a sense, when he says "we seem to invent ourselves in places left unknown", meaning that people create who they are without God. "If only hope could find me out" seems to say how he wants to be able to have hope and for God to find him and set him right in His path. In the second verse when Christian says "Although I know a thousand names, I see my only friend" he is referring to God, that although he knows so many people, he immediatly would reconize God in a crowd and he knows that God is his true friend that will stand by him for everything. "I feel helpless"--feeling not that great without turning to God for help. I'm not so sure about the rest of that verse. Is anybody out there? Hello Alone! Broken hearts like promises, I left my last unknowns Is anybody out there? Hello Alone! Cause the coldest winters thrive on broken hopes Broken homes This whole song seems to also refer to possibly a time when someone in Anberlin might have been going through rough times and wanted to turn to God, but didn't have the strength. This seems to show a hopeless situation when it seems to the person as though God isn't there. and it should be that the coldest winters thrive on broken HOMES. That's all I have for my interpretation of this song. It's one of my favorites from their new CD. Truly amazing!! |
