i think that the one part "don't hold your breath because you'll only make things worse" is referring to using a gun. Usually to steady a rifle, before you shoot you hold your breath.. and since in the song it says: "And my eye through the scope down the barrel of a gun (gun, gun)" the scope gives away it was a gun and if that doesn't then it says down the barrel of a gun.. which means the scope is on a rifle.. i think that he's using the gun as like his relationship.. she is trying to fix it and he says this by singing don't hold your breath because you'll only make things worse.. she is trying to fix it and things are becoming worse.. or if he said it with the gun thing again it would be something like you still haven't hit your target or w/e.. but idk if i'm even close.. and thats the only part of the song i may have figured out |

| Silverstein – Your Sword vs. My Dagger Lyrics | 19 years ago |

"Drink the poison, when you think it's over, (drink the poison) stabbing yourself, when you think it's too late. Tragic endings are your thing, you love them, (tragic endings) you love letting go, the endings the same. Drink the poison, when you think it's over, (drink the poison) inevitable, Verona lives inside of you." I agree with everyone about the R&J refrence..but i think that he's using that as a metaphor about his relationship. I think the bigger picture of this song is he is dating this girl and she decides to end it and breaks up with him. hence the part "i wasnt asking for the world" And that he still has feelings for her "and you know that i'm not one to follow through. All these city streets the people look the same, and i can see your face, and i can hear your name. I wasn't asking for the world." This is what gets me.. he's using the R&J refrence to show that his x is being a bit of a drama queen "inevitable, Verona lives inside of you." But the rest of the song suggests that the girl dumped him but that one part counterdicts that... so idk.. thats what i think but i could be wrong |
