Queens of the Stone Age – I Appear Missing Lyrics 12 years ago
Jesus, did Brody write this track? Reminds me of some Distillers lyrics to QOTSA music.

Arcade Fire – My Body Is a Cage Lyrics 13 years ago
Seriously? A quick search would explain to you that Peter Gabriel's version is from a 2010 album covers album called 'Scratch My Back'. He credits Arcade Fire because, you know, it's their song.

You're losing at the Internet.

Nine Inch Nails – Zoo Station Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is even better than the real thing, no pun intended! Speaking of which, around 3:40 it sounds like he's using a distorted sample from the intro of Even Better Than The Real Thing.

Metric – Gimme Sympathy Lyrics 16 years ago
I haven't sifted through every single post, so this may have been posted.

The first time I heard this song was outside on a street corner, and it was loud. The only clear part I could hear was the chorus.

*After all this is gone
Who'd you rather be
The Beatles or The Rolling Stones?

Stars either become too large and bright and implode on themselves at their brightest point. Or they simply run their course, eventually fading and dying.

So, after The Stones finally retire and die, and the two remaining Beatles are no longer with us - which band would you have rather been? The one who put it all out there, and collapsed into itself? Or the one that just kept going (and going, and going)?

Coldplay – 42 Lyrics 17 years ago
This song instantly made me think of the LOST. Not the song that precedes it, but the television series.

42 is one of the numbers. If you know the show, you know what numbers I mean.

What really struck me was 'You think you might be a ghost/You didn't get to heaven but you made it close'.

There's been a long-standing theory about LOST that the island is actually purgatory and that everyone who crashed in the plane is really dead. Or in between worlds, in other words... they didn't get to heaven, but they made it close.

I'm probably wrong, but that's where my mind immediately went.

Cheers all.

Nine Inch Nails – My Violent Heart Lyrics 19 years ago
I was taken a little aback when I first heard this song. I really think it's a song sung from the 'terrorist' point of view. Or rather someone from the Middle East who's life has been torn apart by this war against a small radical faction of their faith... but they are all being lumped together.

*when you return to the place that you call home
we will be there, we will be there*

Meaning they will bring the war to American soil. So once the troops leave, they'll have a war to fight at home.

Try as they might 'they cannot stop them all'

Nine Inch Nails – Survivalism Lyrics 19 years ago
First off... the song is brilliantly done.

Maybe because I'm from Canada instead of the US this is coming to me a little better. And maybe having listened to 'My Violent Heart' it's a little more clear too.

But I'm pretty sure he's referring to George Bush:

I got my propaganda
I got revisionism

he's talking about the media and how they bring this violence he has caused to each and every one of us.

*You see your world on fire
Don't try to act surprised
We did just what you told us
Lost our faith along the way and found ourselves believing your lies*

This refers to how everything Americans are doing will come back to them. So don't be shocked when it does. Americans bought into what GW was selling... and they truly will pay for it.

That's my take on it anyway...
