| G-funk is so cool though...just a shame everyone had to copy the sound. | |

| I think there's more to the lyrics than marital relationships as eatenbytheworms implies. I think that's just a metaphor for the general theme of standing by a capitalist system destined to fall. | |
| Radiohead – There There. (The Boney King of Nowhere.) Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I took a somewhat different interpretation of this song to many here: "In pitch dark I go walking in your landscape" To me this means following a capitalist lifestyle with no thought to the future (darkness ahead). Taking each day as it comes without any conscious effort to illuminate the path we may choose. "Broken branches trip me as I speak" Taken literally this may be a reference to deforestation. More generally I take it to mean the early warning signs of our unsustainable lifestyle are there for everyone to see. "Just 'cause you feel it doesn't mean it's there" The warning signs might be there but it's always easier to dismiss them if acting upon them requires any degree of effort. There are still those who wish to waste time debating whether climate change is a result of human activity when it should be patently obvious. "There's always a siren singing you to shipwreck Open any newspaper and there will be another sensationalised story of some threat to our wellbeing. Why should we waste our valuable time responding to the doomsayers? "(Don't reach out)" This lyric reminds me of the following from No Suprises: "I'll take the quiet life, a handshake of carbon monoxide, with no alarms and no surprises. Please." "Why so green and lonely?" If our consumerist lifestyle is meant to be the pinnacle of success then why aren't we reaping the benefits? "We are accidents waiting to happen" Pretty self explanitory. Our way of life is unsustainable and little effort is being made to change it. |

I can't believe no one has commented on this song. It's an absolute classic. The lyrics are fairly self explanatory. Some might feel it drags on a bit clocking in at over ten minutes but I think it helps build atmosphere nicely. |

I think this is one of the best songs Oasis have ever done, and there's a fair few contenders. Has a great punk feel to it. About the song itself, I think the actual meaning is quite optimistic in contrast to what one might think when first hearing it. It really is just about following you're dreams while being realistic about it. We can't all be football players, etc. but we all have our own dreams to pursue. |
