my english class is studying a story called "where are you going, where have you been?" and the song is really similar to the story... but yeah great song. i'm pretty sure it could be about the devil, despite the whole jesus part, trying to lure a girl to him. |

i'm pretty sure the lines you're unsure about are "Guess I'm just one less song" and then "But your heart won't wait this time" Other than that, the lyrics are good But anyways, I LOVE this song!! Ahhhh God, I love this song. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this since I don't really feel like ready through all 90 other posts, but one of my favorite lines is when he goes "The footsteps that were next to me have gone their separate ways." This reminds me of a religious poem about this man who died and he looks back on his life and sees it as a sandy beach with footprints, sometimes there's two pairs and other times there's only one set. And the man looks back and God's there with him saying that one set of footprints belongs to Him and the other belong to the man. The man remarks that at all the really awful times in his life, there was only one set of footprints and asks why God left him during those times, but God replies that the set of footprints he sees belong to Him and He carried the man throught all those hard times. The line from the song just reminded me of that, and made me think that maybe that particular verse is saying how either he's strayed from God or felt that God abandoned him. But that's just what I noticed and think :) |

i think this song's probably about this girl and she's cheating on her boyfriend with the guy singing the song. and the "ooh shit he's coming back for more, what can i do, where can i hide for safety" is them almost getting caught together. but the guy's starting to get annoyed with the situation and doesn't like being second because it feels like she's toying with his heart and the chorus is his warning to look out for girls like her cuz you'll only end up unhappy in the end. |

i love the "sometimes i worry about the things i cannot control" part. *shivers* yup. so basically i think it's about this guys who's trying to get over this girl who just broke up with him, but he keeps finding these notes, most likely from her, and then he sees her and starts to get all depressed wishing they could be back together. but she's completely unaffected by the whole thing, hence the smile and walk away part. that's what she's doing, making it seem so easy but he's still suffering and wishing that maybe she could just pretend to be a little bit hurt to make it easier on him. |

yea i'd have to agree with mshoneydew19. it's definatly about sex. "let's make a mess let's tear up these sheets" ya, SEX!! and the whole using a gun as a metophor for his piece. it could also be like a relationship between this guy and a prostitute, but he actually likes her and she's only with him for the money. "here we go again" and "and your mojo witchcraft honey it's working on me" regular client, prostitutes gotta be seductive and apparantly she's seducing this guy quite well. "woke up today feeling like some kind of masochist" he knows he likes her and that she doesn't like him back but still goes back even though it hurts to know he's not her only one. either that or he really enjoys kinky sex cause there are some other lines that point that way such as: "tear the flesh so I can feel you here with me break the skin so I can feel you here with me" ya that sounds pretty masochistic to me like he needs to feel the pain to know she's there with him. woah that was a pretty obvious translation there. haha. yup so that's what i think. errg!! i love this song! it sends shivers through me. |
