I'd rather say it's a song about the after breakup relation some ppl use to have.. you know... after spending a long time with someone, after the breakup, there's probably going to be like some ''sexual acts'' anyway for some time. This guy and his ex well, they are spending like the last time together, after their breakup. Obviously, they are hiding, because they aren't supposed to do things like that anymore (that's why the guy sneaks up into her room, and that why the had little time to do that, little time that could be counted on fingers.) They still love each other, but they can't be together for some reason. anyway, it's going to be the last time (bad goodbyes, blablablah parts on the song about that..) Even thought, we could say it's the girls fault (Because of the cd context, just check out three cheers for five years lyrics.. same cd, must be same girl.) so actually the guy is feeling bad because he can't do anything about it. then there's the forgetting part of his life, he must forget the girl... and since they had that kind of "after breakup relation'', the girl still feels they are together: may I say I loved you more ( it's her fault then..) lets drink to the memories that we shared down one to all the hopes and cares here's to YOU for being unaware, that your gone (this could be like the fact of the girl thinking they are still together in someway, and the guy saying that, she's gone without even knowing it..) because before too long you'll be a memory (I believe it's actually "here's to you", not "here's too"..) lets drink to the memories that we shared (before too long you'll be a memory) down one to all the hopes and cares (because before too long you'll be a memory) heres too for being unaware (I said before too long you'll be a memory) that your gone I said before too long you'll be a memory (and obviously the before too long you'll be a memory, expresses the feelings of the guy, which is trying hard to get over her...) that's just my 2 cents... anyway, as I always say, ppl relate to songs the way they want to, I would say it's that way because of my situation.. so anyway.. |

nmmmmm... it's not ''darkness maintains me", of that I'm sure, and I'm swiss-mexican so I can also say I speak spanish, trust me too.... It's "the dark one maintains me" or at least.. ''the dark maintains me"... And by the way, IT IS SAMAEL.. not Ismael... and the Magdalena theory seems quite good for me, even though I think the principal purpose is not relating to that part of the bible.. but just making ppl relate to the song, with sort of ''the feeling'' on that history... let's say for everyone who gets quite hurted by someone else because of a love relationship, and when he finally decides to leave it all, he still knows that he's fucking awefully inlove, which makes him crazy... dudes you're getting to superficial in here... this song is not about being locked... come on, it's Underoath... they always have a secret message. This song is about getting sick of a repetitive scene, a stage.. let's say, kind of having a relationship that sucks and is too repetitive (always doing the same bullshit just to please her, not recieving what you want... etc), sick of your friends, who are always the same, sick of your family... etc. The best Example would be, SICK OF YOUR REPETITIVE LIFE... all along the song, spencer screams (cause he's not actually singing lol): 1-it's all to familiar; I'm sure I've tasted this before. ---------> so it's obviously some kind of repetitive story, and it's a metaphor, this doesn't mean you're locked on a house.. it's more like being locked on a situation which just repeats ("I'm sure I've tasted this before"). 2- Everything is out of reach, and I just want to see outside, the air has been getting thin. --------> He's now sick of that repetitive situation, and wants to try something new, ("I just want to see outside") but that something new, is out of reach because he's locked on the situation ("everything is out of reach"). 3- I feel like cutting it open tonight, and falling on the floor. ----------> seems like he's thinking of suicide because he can't find any other exit to that situation which keeps repeating ( i know i've said that the situation just repeats and repeats time and time.. but this is because IT'S THE PRINCIPAL FACT IN THIS SONG.) 4-There's nothing left unused in here There's nothing left to say I haven't talked in days And I'm really not too sure What I sound like anymore "there's nothing left unused in here, nothing left to say, " so he has already made everything he could on that repetitive situation, tried everything, etc, so there's nothing left to do, to say. Since there's nothing left to say, he hasn't talked in days, and now he's lost in that scene, he can't even remember what he's voice sounds like anymore, cause he hasn't talked in days (which may sound stupid... but try to stop talking for 24 hours, and after that, try to remember how your voice sounds, I'm sure you'll get fucked up with that..) but well once again, this is a metaphor, this doesn't mean he's actually stopped talking... this means he's lost now, he can't even remember what he used to be, "he can't find himself" because he's being trapped in a situation, which is in a constant repeat, and just to make it worse, that situation makes him a slave, he's not free to do what he wants, and so he can't even know himself. 5- Same shit that part 3, with the last touch: It's time to open up the door. this means it's time to move on, so in terms of relationship, it's time to break, etc... or it's time to change your life. this is what the song is about. this is one of the first songs I'm going to talk about without relating (well.. not in this moment, but when I heard it for the last time, I surely did) This isn't a song about a breakup, it's about a relationship which is only physical, not emotional, at least not for the both of them---> "present just physically" which makes me think that in the past, it was different, but now, that person doesn't like him that much, she only wants him to be there, but not because of loving him, since she criticises everything he does "everything I do is a mistake". It's more about a relationship which is suffering of someone's falling out of love, but still hasn't ended. |

well I'll give it a shot, since it's one of my momentary hit songs because of my personal problems.. lol. I'm willing to think this song is about the future returning after a break up in these ways: 1. I believe this first part, relates to a ''mistake'' they both believed as right, or as necessary in the moment, like kissing, etc. " I felt for sure last night"---> this makes me think that it was a mistake for both, like kissing after the break up, even if one of them has already another kind of relation with someone else, etc.. And trying after it happened to keep it as a secret (which has been my case several times..) "at once we said goodbye, no one else will know these lonely dreams, no one else will know, that part of me." 2.- "It was my turn to decide I knew this was our time No one else will have me like you do No one else will have me, only you" this is to me, an obvious: I wanna have something with you, cause it's our time. and is also saying this: "no one else will have me like you do"---> maybe someday he'll feel something for someone else, but not as strong as for her/him. cause, "no one else will have me, only you"----> no one else will have him like she did. 3.- "Youll sit alone forever If you wait for the right time What are you hoping for? Im here and now Im ready Holding on tight Dont give away the end The one thing that stays mine..." this is like a: come on, don't make me wait, cause you'll sit alone forever if you wait for what you think it's our ''right time''. so "I'm here, I'm now, I'm ready" ----> which to me seems like a: Ok, now I've set apart everything I had in mind to keep you of me, I'm here for you, I'm ready, now. "Don't give away the end, the one thing that stays mine"------> Don't end our relationship, because that's the only thing that stays mine ( the fact of deciding to end or not, as the only thing you have with her now, because she decided all the rest). 4.-"Amazing still it seems Ill be 23 I wont always love what Ill never have I wont always live in my regrets" "Amazing still it seems Ill be 23"-------> seems like he has waited for too long for her, or has been there for so long, that it even amazes him how much he has waited for her. but... "I wont always love what Ill never have I wont always live in my regrets" ---------> this sounds to me like a : "keep in mind, that I won't always love you if you just won't give me a chance, keep in mind that I won't spend the rest of my life in the regrets of what I've done, like being with you." something like that. Conclusions: These are just my 2 cents.. but let's remember that every single person relates every single lyric to his situation, emotion... so don't criticise me if you don't get my ''meaning'' for this song, it's just the way I'm willing to listen to it, because of my ex girlfriend, for which I'm still fucking lost... |

I'm not quite sure this is about ''titles'' like goths... etc, My peronal feeling is that, Matt is just saying that we all live under control, we never take a look, and try to change, we just complain, like if we were all doing something to change this world, this is not about '' your revolution is a joke'', meaning every revolution is a joke, this means we all ''revolt'' without even having the meanings, and without even truly fighting. This song seems obviously to me, a regret song, and it's way actually not regreting the love he feels for her, but the relationship they are having (lie lie, better next time, STAY ON MY SIDE TONIGHT), but he regrets it cause he kinda knows that she's cheating on him (let's just say i'm kinda feeling that way, maybe that's the why of my interpretation.. cause it's kind of the song i'm listening over and over today), and that she just denies it because she wants him beside her (lie lie part goes for cheating and saying she still loves him) drinking the poison is kind of the break up methaphor, and for me, the part of: "I wonder why I'm so caught off guard when we kiss. I'd rather live my life in regret then do this. What happened to the love we both knew, we both chased?" It's kind of the feeling of kissing the girl you love, but then realizing that even if you love her, she doesn't love you, but you still can't try to deny her because of the love.. come on, everybody knows how hard is to avoid the girl you love from kissing you. And who knows? for me, the "don't say you never when you might", refers to the possibility of her breaking a promise, like not cheating on him.. something like that.. But well, I've gotta admit that's just the way I take this song, of course, I might be so influenced by personal experiences, that it's prolly not that way.. but anyway, those are my thoughts |

ok we'll start.. 1, the Emo we know now, is nothing like the TRUE emo type of music, who started quite a long time ago, 2, emo ( current emo at least ) bands: Dashboard Confessional, Something Corporate, straylight run, taking back sunday.. etc 3, emo standed for: EMOTIONALY CHARGED PUNK, emo sounded more like punk, talking about emotions more than anarchy and all that, so stop saying emo is bullshit.. come on, reggaeton?? rap?? does that sounds more elaborated than emo?? music is music, it just helps people to identify theirselves with a type of sound, and emo is quite the sound for expressing love, hate, and failure (examples: seventy times seven (brand new), and there's no 'i' in team, these two songs talk about friendship, the first, about the hate a guy has to an ex best friend, and the second one, talks about forgiveness) i'm quite sure that you people who listen to Cradle of Filth or all that, get identified with it right? that doesn't mean that those bands made you a life. i personally take music as a way to talk with myself, to clear my mind, and to think twice before acting, and this is why i like emo, because it can basically express any feeling you get in a relationship, failure, cheating, lying, happiness ( FOR THOSE WHO THINK that those type of emo songs doesn't exist, listen to HANDS DOWN, from dashboard, it's not a SLIT WRIST song). 4. you people who can't handle emo being a type of music who is now getting power, suck. I'm not saying you should listen to emo, but don't insult it, it's just music, there are bad bands, and good bands, but not bad genres and good genres. 5. let's make the diference beetween emo guys and emo music, emo music stands for emotionally charged punk, as i've already said, but an emo guy, is a person who's life is almost based in emotional (love and friendship domination) problems, do you know depression sickness? i assure you people who have a great life, TRUELY a great life, and talk of them as emo guys, are posers, they have nothing to regret in love nither in friendship. personally, one of my HH favorites.. But i think i've got the message wrong, since i never saw the song that way.. for me it was more like: a Girl, faking love to him (You don't have to cover up how you feel when your in love "I'll always know im not enough to even make you think") makes me think of: not being enough to make her fall inlove with him.
