Alice in Chains – I Can't Remember Lyrics 18 years ago
My apologies Ductape, judging by your activity on this site, i imagine i have broken your Cadence ( rushing back minutes after your posts to see if there is something else you can possibly disagree with, coherently or not). onwards....the drug use i was mentioning encompassed heroin, i would have thought this apparent given Staley's publicly and well known demise as a result of it. you are correct though, you do not have to do drugs to write about them, and you also do not have to be a doctor to perform surgery. "Nothing of worth, quote that made no sense" i think you'll find my dear ductape that my quote did indeed make sense. as im sure you know, I feel the song is a "God-bash", as i mentioned in my previous post, "Bring me down you try, feel the pain and keep it all in till you die"...stay with me Ductape....."Without eyes you cannot cry" rather you agree with me or not on my interpretation, the quote i gave clearly backs up what i was saying, given the context.....in case you are still lost, God is the one bringing him down Ductape, the rest of the lyrics follow suit. another point, it seems to me that you approach all AIC songs with the presupposition that the lyrics are drug related, unless blatantly mentioned otherwise. My proof for this claim...your response to shineglass, "How bad drugs can be eg Dirt"........ there is nothing in the lyrics of the song dirt to support drug use. it is possible the concept of the song is about wanting to die when the drugs are too much, but there is no evidence presented within the song to distinguish this idea out of the boundaries of a random suicide song. sincerely,
a small-minded patron

Alice in Chains – I Stay Away Lyrics 19 years ago
no stalkerassassin1984, few of their songs were about drugs. The only ones from DIRT being Junkhead,Godsmack, and Hate to Feel. People like yourself are the reason Layne Staley and Alice in Chains will forever be underrated, trying to tie their abstract lyrics into subject matter you can grasp your simple mind around, like a persons drug addiction for example. Go listen to some green day or something

Layne wasnt addicted to drugs, nor had he even been a user until after the release of facelift, so obviously your bowlshit interpretations of this song are incorrect. this song, like so many others, is about God negatively interfering in their lives. "BRING ME DOWN YOU TRY, FEEL THE PAIN AND KEEP IT ALL IN TILL YOU DIE, WITHOUT EYES YOU CANNOT CRY" Those of you out there who try and deam the lyrics of AIC as mostly the product of a drug induced trans or state of life should be ashamed of yourselves. you are an insult to the great genious of layne staley, and his co writers.

Alice in Chains – A Little Bitter Lyrics 19 years ago
you people are idiots, always trying to make layne staley and his lyrics as part of his drug addiction. in your ignorance, you forget, with the exception of the few of you who mentioned his family problems, that some people who turn to drugs do so only as a last resort. the song is talking about panic attacks to begin with. real panic attacks, not the publicly recognized idea, but the real deal-loosing touch with reality, momentarily forgetting who you are, scared to death to even think. layne later goes on to criticize God for this problem, as well as others in general.
