IMHO I believe this song is about owning yourself. Living how you wish. Not caring what others may think. Deeper its about figuring out what that life is. Further its abut enjoying that journey. And in the end it does not matter (per-say) where your life ends. What matters it what you did with that life. And that you would do it again the same way. I agree that a lot of O.A.R. is very open to personal interpretation. My interpretation of this song is very generic - but I believe this is a very simple messaged, broad, generic song aimed and making you think about how you are living your life. |

I think this song is about the stages of life. How you are born innocent but immediately corrupted by society. Then got out in the world one your own and you get one shot to make it. But then your break finally does come but because you have gotten caught up in society you miss it. Then of course you realize this and instead of taking responsibility you put it of as fate. And then lastly you once you have wasted most of your life in the corrupt society you realize what you have wasted and wish to have more time. Or of course it could be alot simpler and taken literally. #1 The opportunity you receive but before you even get it you choose not to take it because you are afraid, not confident etc. #2 The opportunity that you made for yourself. denizens of hate is everything you have going against you but still overcome #3 The missed opportunity. Instead of owning up to it you put it off as fate. #4 The opportunities of others/The opportunity you wish you had. Tantalized with its bait = Jealousy |
