Radiohead – Polyethylene (Parts 1 & 2) Lyrics 16 years ago
I honestly think this is one of their greatest songs. Seriously. Sorta reminds me of a mini-Android, musically.

Radiohead – Pyramid Song Lyrics 16 years ago
S'all good, Willy.

To everyone having any questions about this song and its origins... read Siddhartha. Many illusions to the book, such as the river itself, the row boat, the lovers, etc. Maybe someone already said this... I honestly wouldn't know. =D

Cheers.

Interpol – Take You on a Cruise Lyrics 17 years ago
Y'know, I'm not sure if I could agree with you any more.

Paul has a knack for writing songs that can be interpreted multiple ways, which not only makes these forums more interesting... but the songs too. I personally look at it as "about an old rich guy trying to convince a young girl to come away with him. That he'll treat her right and take all her sorrows away". However, I can see the other angle too. I dunno... I always looked at it in a romantic way.

Oh, and... "oh my love, we're sailing to Norway"... love it!

Interpol – Roland Lyrics 17 years ago
Well, I guess the meaning of this song has something to do with trading "witty" remarks back and forth? =P

Seriously though, props to michael05, I was thinking the same exact thing... though it still could be a metaphor, as somebody else previously mentioned. The person I most agree with though is TheAmazingSaint because... well, because it is a great point. Nearly everybody here agrees that it is has something to do with how somebody one cares about can do the strangest things. They are still a friend, despite whatever they have done wrong. Hence "he always had the time to speak with me I liked him for that" despite all the disturbing things the character has done or has been caught doing.

Hey, just my opinion, on a fantastic and deep song I may add. It's an Interpol song though, I'd expect nothing less. =)

Incubus – Punch Drunk Lyrics 17 years ago
I pretty much agree with ss&la, for the most part. I don't know if I am ready to call Rogues their masterwork or anything, but it is a really good song . Doesn't even matter, it serves more of a purpose to comment on Rogues in the Rogues thread, right? Anyways, yes, I am thinking you guys nailed this one, not much else to say. It's such a beautiful song, and the passion Brandon delivers the vocals with is unparalled here, or anywhere for that matter. I saw this song permord live @Meadowbrook in Gilford NH, before I even knew it existed... and I immediately knew this song was great. I was and still and bummed that it didn't make the US cut, because it would be one of my favorite songs on Light Grenades. Agreed, it fits the overall theme on the album quite well and those in Japan are quite lucky to get this song!

Klaxons – As Above, So Below Lyrics 17 years ago
"As Above So Below" was a saying Aleister Crowley made frequently... makes sense, with the whole "Magick" theme and whatnot.

Klaxons – 4 Horsemen Of 2012 Lyrics 17 years ago
Four Horsemen of 2012... hmmm, what could it possibly be about? =) Sick song, and it makes the title "Myths of the Near Future" make perfect sense to be now. And yes, it doesn't have much to do with X-Files, it (and the X-Files episode for that matter) has to do with the end of the Mayan calender, as somebody else previously stated. Klaxons rule btw, their stuff is so catchy but it also gets ya' thinking... good stuff.

I love this song. It reminds me of my girlfriend and it is one of those songs that you can listen to and feel at peace. Well done.

Test Icicles – Circle. Square. Triangle Lyrics 18 years ago
Oh, and I thought the lyrics were:

One more time...
Another line
Slowly divides...
A voice denied

But I dunno for sure. Peace.

What a nasty song. Seriously, we could do with some more noises! I'm getting sick of saying that Klaxons ripped them off though, they are/were both great bands with some really sick songs!!!

Doves – Firesuite Lyrics 18 years ago
OH MY GOD. What an amazing song. Easily my favourite instrumental song, one of the best of Doves, and one of my favourite songs PERIOD. I posted it, even though it has no lyrics, because it is such a beautifully depressing song that I assumed that it holds different meanings for different people. After my girlfriend and I split, this was the song I used to listen to a lot. It was the one way I could temporarily escape the world around me for, say, three minutes or so =D. It holds a lot of sadness for me but it is such a wonderful song that could put nearly anyone at ease. Great job by Jimi and the boys.

Coldplay – Spies Lyrics 18 years ago
Exactly, CYR. That's what I adore about Coldplay, their songs can hold so much personal meaning to a person because they can be interpreted in several ways (usually). When I first heard this song, I was blown away. Simply epic, my friends. =D

Daughtry – It's Not Over Lyrics 18 years ago
WOW, mudstaind is dead on in one regard... I was thinking the EXACT same thing with the whole Fuel thing. The sound is like exactly the same as Hemorrhage. And it really is a tad ironic that Chris was offered the job to join Fuel and then created his own band that sounds strikingly familiar to Fuel in the first place. That being said, I don't mind the song that much. Daughtry has plenty of other songs on their CD that are, in my opinion, better. But yeah, the meaning is rather self-explanitory, indeed.

Incubus – Battlestar Scralatchtica Lyrics 18 years ago
Apparently, they never even kicked him out. Alex left Incubus due to "personal differences" with the rest of the band. It's rumored that the band was getting sick of his stubborness, which could've disrupted the creative process of writing Morning View. Whatever, the decision was mutual. That's it. Great song, btw!

Sorry to double-post, but I'm just sayin' that Anthony has been clean for several years, so although it could be about some sort of previous experience, i seriously doubt it.

I think it's just a flashback on Anthony's drug addiction...

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Turn It Again Lyrics 19 years ago
Whoever thinks this song is about drugs is close-minded. Look at how many times they talk about dancing- the robot, astronaut, A FOX TO TROT? Geez. Sometimes, it seems like people are just looking for excuses to think a song is about getting high.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Purple Stain Lyrics 19 years ago
I honestly think that this song is entirely random and that the lyrics don't mean anything in particular. After all, it's easy for an artist to make connections to their song AFTER the song has already been written.

Gomez – Chasing Ghosts With Alcohol Lyrics 19 years ago
I'll take a stab at this one-

I think that by "ghosts" he means all the people and problems in his life, both the good and the bad. Now, he is reminiscing about these people, and how his problem with alcohol secluded him from these things. By "I wondered why I'm glowing," I think he means theat he lost himself in the process (being a "ghost" himself). Some of the lyrics may prove contrary, so this is just a thought. Overall, though, no matter what the lyrics mean, this is still a killer song!

Incubus – Sick Sad Little World Lyrics 19 years ago
Someone already briefly mentioned this, but if you read the lyrics in the cover booklet, it says "Turbo- Geek" next to the song title. I'm pretty sure that this is more of a metaphor concerning how many people seclude themselves from the world nowadays, and how this is leading to a loss of love. Just a thought, though...

Gomez – Charley Patton Songs Lyrics 19 years ago
This is a tough one. You immediatly see the reference about Charley Patton (obviously), but this song isn't bluesy like actual Charley Patton songs. I think it's simply about the writer reflecting on his life and how he wasted time- and know he can't find the women he loves. Overall, it really follows the theme of the entire album. Great song!

Gomez – Girlshapedlovedrug Lyrics 19 years ago
Agreed. This is a great song- the whole album is awesome. This song is particularly self-explanatory, which isn't a bad thing...
