i also think this is a very powerful song and its most touching part is here- Have you forgotten all the people killed Yeah, some went down like heroes In that Pennsylvania field i've stood in that field in somerset which isnt too far from me i've felt the power there and seen the tribute people have made to those people that died and it takes me back to there. |

not only do i support the comments made by gmaniac6899 (except im a bow tie guy) but also this song brings 2 sayings to mind... 1st...liberalism is a mental disorder... 2nd...stand behind our troops, or stand in front of them! God Bless |

| Alan Jackson – Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i remember i was in math class in 7th grade...and i remember seeing that 2nd plane hit the other tower... i like how he refers to St. Paul's 2nd letter to the corintheans to remind us that the people killed that day are with God. this song makes me appreciate the people that mean a lot to me and reminds me of God's love. |

| Little Big Town – Boondocks Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| though i dont have a tin roof, i wouldnt trade any of my boondock raisings for any other way. i love the country! nothing like riding your quad, drinking, goin mudding, campin, shooting, and doin all sorts of things out in the woods with your friends. | |
| Trace Adkins – Arlington Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| this song reminds of me of an amazing experience i had...though the air force JROTC i am a member of i was able to be a member of a 4 person team that laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unkown Soldier. we stood there at attention, saluting the tomb, with those incredable army tomb guards while taps was played...and for the entire time you didn't hear a single plane flying over from the nearby airport like you usualy do, in fact you didnt hear a thing but taps. it was an amazing and emotional experience i will never forget. this song takes me right back to it and makes me think about the sacrifice paid by all those soldiers that rest in arlington. | |

| The Clarks – The River Lyrics | 19 years ago |

when i heard the clarks play this song at the university of pitt at johnstown everyone lost it when they said "workin for the johnstown company". good time. |
|
| The Clarks – The River Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i liked this version with its faster pace and rock tone beter than springsteens. since they're from pitt, think they might be referring to johnstown, pa, the conemaugh river, the fields in somerset, and the ligonier valley between the chestnut ridge and the laurel ridge? its nice to think so... |

they played at UPJ and they still got treated as a local group. loved it! |
|
| Bruce Springsteen – The River Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| was bruce ever in south-west PA? this song makes me think of johnstown, PA. the valley could be the valley between the derry ridge and the chestnut ridge...and if you head south you go to somerset where the fields are indeed green and beautiful in the summer. the conemaugh river flows through the valley and johnstown, but its so yellow from the coal mines you dont wanna dive into it. we have no shortage of unions and resorvoirs too. | |
