| The first verse is about him being in a relationship, and then the girl comes along and ruins it. The second is her eventually getting with him, and breaking his heart, "explaining they just lacked chemistry". So, they break up, and he still wants her, even though she uses him continuously. Its kinda like he's sarcastic with "everybody's going to love today", as in everybody's in their ideal of "love", which is just said pretty casually today. Then he talks about hookers for a while, which goes with the "everybody will 'love' today". Then, he feels like he wants a girl to love him as well, but she really doesn't feel the same way, and how people today are just kind of looking for this lessened version of 'love' just to say they are. That's probably the longest sentence I've ever written, but that's what I got out of the song. |

I love this song; it's been my favorite since December-ish. Now, it's everywhere and I love it. Well, it's supposedly about him having to conform because the record companies did not like him the way he was. hah, how ironic that the song about not conforming to make a big hit IS his big hit. Probably my favorite song ever. |
