it seems that this song can also be about being in a band/touring. "It's crowded and we're bored"- if you've ever been to a show, and the bands haven't started yet, it is crowded, and you are bored. "The chamber maid: she snores"- chamber maid's= hotels/motels, which is where people in bands crash if a house isn't available "The drummer's gone to tune up all her toms I laid my head down and now my wallet's gone"- The drummer/toms part is clear. And the second line is about getting shit stolen, it happens so often when you're on the road. "Hooplas involving circus tricks At addresses way out in the sticks"- Venue's are really out of the way, sometimes. I've had my share of shows 'way out in the sticks' "The pixies in tight green little skirts say it's so much better now that is hurts The tides that pull you down in the river She touched my knee and that made me quiver Winks with her eye, 3.14 (pi) Is there anyone who knows the whole thing?"- The pixies part, i'm not sure on, it's probably a reference to females at the show, in short skirts. He talks to one of them, she touches his knee and winks. I'm sure the 3.14 pi thing is a reference to an inside joke or sorts, or as somebody already said could be added to fit the rhyme. " It's loaded with references when the mime speaks about the biz We asked him for a glass that might be clean But he's too busy posing for fashion 'zines"- I'm not sure on this, although ti reminds me of David Bowie a lot, since he was studying to be a mime and decided to record music to fund that. and he certainly is a fashionable bastard my take on this song. |

i really doubt that the "drink your piss that night..." line is in relation to a desert at all, i think it's about watersports. (look it up if you're unfamiliar) i think the 'it's a possibility to live without lips' part is in relation to the now married/straight man's lack of any type of physical relation with his former lover. lips are used for kissing. when you have nothing like that in your life, it is possible to live without them. (great song/album/blah blah i'm sure you already know) |

i think also that if this child would be born, they would be 'stuck' in the famine, cementing their fate. and the last lines of 'it just died, i did not kill it' are definately bittersweet |

a daughter is starting up in the path her drug addicted father has started. the first four lines show miscommunication between the father and son/daughter (remember that jamie has had some gender issues, so I really wouldn't doubt that it might go from he/she lyrically) the "lighting it up" part is reference to drugs. you light up a joint, considering this songtitle invovles meth, it's most likely about that. the "highschool colours black and light black" are about obvious teenage depression/angst 'giving it up she has started your life's colours' means that they are starting to follow in the fathers footsteps, who also must have had black and light black as highschool colours/depressed "getting hair from under your bed, breaking your fingernails" is in reference to getting 'made up', and being on meth and it ends with the girl being killed in a car wreck before she could make her father pay, since she credits the bad to him (lameass first post) |
