I love this song. On my top 3 Shakira songs. I love the meaning. When I saw her in concert Jan. 2002 in Chicago, she played it and I was crying like a baby. I think I cry most of the times I listen to this song. Jaja : ) |

I think this song is about her ex, I think his name is Osvaldo Rios. Anyway, she dated him for awhile but eventually left him. I'm not sure if she was abused by him but I know it was revealed in the media that he abused his ex-wife, before Shakira. This was before she dated Antonio. |

P.S. Its basically about thiefs. She's saying they are just like normal people, you see them doing everyday stuff. You can't tell just by looking at someone that they are a thief "Donde estan los ladrones?" Where are the thiefs? But don't take this song too literally. I think its also her voicing her opinion on morality and stealing, etc.. |

A year or so before this album came out Shakira had all her luggage stolen at an airport in which she had a ton of song material. Anyway, I hear that this even inspired her to write this song. Thats just what I heard on the news years ago when this happened.. |
