| Foo Fighters – The Pretender Lyrics | 18 years ago |

oh David Grohl, i want the new album soon. this song's amazing. instead of the whole "couple" interpretation up there, i think it's more against the President, too. or maybe not even the President but...just...it doesn't sound like a couple-breakingup sorta thing. oh well. P+L. |

| Rise Against – Drones Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
i think it deals with workers in sweatshops or places where workers work for minimum or below minimum wage doing jobs not very...what's the word...great? i guess? "the drones will slave away, they’re working overtime, they serve a faceless queen, they never question why. disciples of a god, they neither live nor breathe... ...but we have bills to pay, yeah we have mouths to feed!" also, like a lot of Rise Against's songs, with a theme of changing the world. P+L. |

| Rise Against – The Good Left Undone Lyrics | 19 years ago |

i'd like to start off by saying that this song is flipping AMAZING. especially the last part of the song. ohhh man. so good so good. hands down. alright. well, i do agree with everyone who posted before me, but i think the flower is supposed to be the girl....... "In fields where nothing grew but weeds, I found a flower at my feet, Bending there in my direction, I wrapped a hand around its stem, I pulled until the roots gave in, Finding now what I’ve been missing" he's in a world all dark and gloomy with nothing good. but then he comes across a girl. "bending there in my direction" could mean that he found her and liked her first. then he says "i wrapped a hand around its stem, i pulled until the roots gave in"; this probably means that she had her guard up first but then gave in. the last line in that stanza "finding now what i've been missing", well, kinda obvious...he realized that he's been missing love in his life and that she showed him what it is/was. "Inside my hands these petals brown, Dried up, falling to the ground But it was already too late now. I push my fingers through the earth, Return this flower to the dirt, So it can live. I walk away now." this part of the song is probably how they broke up. "inside my hands these petals brown, dried up, falling to the ground but it was already too late now" means that they fell apart. he probably wasn't all "lovey" and stuff [for lack of a better term and such]...like, he didn't return the same amount of love that she was giving him. so he broke up with her and walked away ["i push my fingers through the earth, return this flower to the dirt, so it can live. i walk away now."]. he was probably thinking that this was the best- especially for her. like a flower...when it's dying, you put it back in the soil so it can live again. "Not a day goes by that I don’t feel it’s spurn. There’s a point we pass from which we can’t return." he misses and thinks about her a lot and regrets breaking up with her, but he can't do anything to change it now because she most likely moved on already. "All because of you, I believe in angels. Not the kind with wings, No, not the kind with halos, The kind that bring you home, When home becomes a strange place. I’ll follow your voice, All you have to do is shout it out." and of course, this part means that he still remembers how she showed him the good parts of life and what love is. and he really really misses her... ...yup. |
