| Kevin Devine – Redbird Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
You can hear him explain what the song is about on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yyLIcaHBXE#t=68 Its about Maher Arar, a Canadian citizen who was pulled off a flight in the United States, tortured (waterboarded) all this becuase he was unfortunate enough to share the name of a person on a terrorist watch-list. He was literally dropped back off at his home in Canada after months of isolation and torture like nothing ever happened. Some really sad and fucked up shit.... we tortured and imprisoned someone by mistake and the media never said much of anything about it. |

| Kevin Devine – Nobel Prize Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
"Or we can fire up the program, let the drones do all the dirt might even win a Nobel Peace Prize, well-deserved" This song is a reflection on the fact that Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize despite continuing the wars in the middle east and generally making the world a worse place. "I say we razorblade the borders, or even take the fight to them let's go slaughtering the natives, again" This is a likely a reference to the genocide of the native North American Indians, and is comment on our countries past and current 'get what we want' mentality. |

| Kevin Devine – All of Everything, Erased Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
It's about the world ending. At a show he said: "one thing that's very comforting about everything that's going on, about the craziness is everyone talks about how we are going to do all this stuff, we are going to end the world with nuclear war, or with what we're doing to the environment, but its not like that... we are just going to end us and then the world will be fine, and all the green will grow back, and all the cities will be erased and we will just be this little blip, and that's very comforting to me, I mean we just fuck ourselves" |
|
| Kevin Devine – Lord, I Know We Don't Talk Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I just want to point out kevin is an atheist and I have talked to him in length about it. This song isnt meant to be about his own faith but about how people perceive god as real even though if he did exist why would he let all this fighting and horrible acts in his name continue? I personally don't believe but thats not whats important, whats important is that this is a good song. :] |

| Elliott Smith – Somebody That I Used to Know Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song like everyone already mentioned is flawless. IT could be about A girl, a friend, himself, probably even something more complicated. I don't know for sure who he is talking about, but the beauty is that we can relate it to ourselves, to our own triumphs and trials, and that to me is what makes him amazing. | |
| Kevin Devine – No One Else's Problem Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Jesse didn't write any of this. He did backup vocals in one song, It pisses me off when poeple do that. Kevin writes amazing lyrics and in my opinion is better then Brand New could ever be. | |
| Kevin Devine – Blacksheep Boy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Kevin does the best cover of it I believe. Also its "I’m the family’s unknown boy" I'm not sure where they got unarmed. | |
| Kevin Devine – Wolf's Mouth Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song truly is amazing. Doesnt get much better then kd. | |
| A Global Threat – Kids Will Revolt Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
funk, you listen to rush, and the beatles. I don't need to say anything more about your awesome music preference. Im sure glad you get pumped to the beatles. How about you go play in traffic. Thanks. Awesome song. |
|
| Kevin Devine – This Box Is Empty Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| "picking birthday cards, her favorite scars." at least thats what it sounds life. Kevin is amazing. | |
| Propagandhi – Haillie Sellasse, Up Your Ass Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"actually, it hasn't been altered at all. comparisons between the bible today and the original scrolls show very, VERY little difference. basically just translations that could be better." how about you check your facts before you post shit like you know. Besides the bible being complete bullshit in the first place alot of things didnt even get into the bible. they picked and choosed what to and what not to put in. Anyways we might as well be arguing over harry potter because they have about the same amount of realism. |
|
| David Dondero – Pre-Invasion Jitters Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This is one of the best songs ever written haha | |
| Streetlight Manifesto – That'll Be The Day Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"gone! everybody's crying now you're gone and everybody's missing you: from apathy to sympathy this new found love is new to me and i can hear you laughing in your grave everyone's forgiven now we're saved every single sin absolved what's the point denying when we all know we are lying to ourselves (and you can't keep that smile off your face)" I feel this song may be about god/jesus and how thomas feels like its a big lie. Just my thoughts but it makes sense. |

| Bright Eyes – Gold Mine Gutted Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"I wish I saved up for rainy days Because they're the hardest to be dry I got no self control I'm always begging into telephones I bought a little from my brother's friend Well, just to get me by I don't trust his cut The effect is never as high as the mark-up" That is part of the lyrics on "spent on rainy days." I have no question whether he has done drugs but I have to say it doesn't really matter. He writes amazing music no matter what. |
|
| Kevin Devine – Write Your Story Now Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| For some reason I really love the guitar in this song. Very talented musician and lyricist. | |
| Evil Robot Us – War Profits Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Evil robot us' is an amazing band. I wish they had some more of there genius lyrics up. | |
| Kevin Devine – Ballgame Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I wouldn't say its more political then no time flat. He does mention a few things that have to do with politics but I think he mentions them because they make him sad and he drinks more because of them. | |
| Kevin Devine – No Time Flat Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Also Kevin wrote this song during a car ride. He doesn't have a radio in his car so he just sings and I'm sure a lot of the songs on the album were inspired that way | |
| Kevin Devine – Noose Dressed Like a Necklace Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think the second part of this song is about how the popularity of the human race just work and work and then die without ever doing something for themselves. hence the "i just see everybody working for that same eternal weekend droning on and on and on and never doing what we wanted" All the same great song. |
|
| Kevin Devine – The Shift Change Splits the Streets Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think the meaning of this song is really broad but its such a good song. | |
| Kevin Devine – You're My Incentive Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"you've been praying for change but you ain't been to church since the 10th grade and you cry at your job don't believe in your vote" I think the meaning behind this song is if you want something to change you have to actually make it happen, not just sit back and wait for it to. |
|
| Kevin Devine – Not Over You Yet Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| First kevin devine song i heard. I think its still one of my favorites. | |
| Kevin Devine – Keep Ringing Your Bell Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| no really that disco dust does get you EVERY time. | |
| Kevin Devine – Keep Ringing Your Bell Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| no really that disco dust does get you EVERY time. | |
| Kevin Devine – No One Else's Problem Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This is a good song, not as good as some of his others but its still amazing. "So many words and they all burn like blood on my tongue.... so many songs and I hate singing every one." Amazing Line. |
|
| Kevin Devine – No Time Flat Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song i think is one of his best. The meaning is obvious. He is against the war and the draft and speaking up about it. "But I don’t got the guts to jump up first So I’ll just shout until my throat hurts" That line describes so many people. |
|
| Kevin Devine – Buried By the Buzz Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
HE sings this song so well, its amazing. I think this song is about putting your past away and i think he is finally coming to terms with it and its overwhelming. |
