| I fail to see any suicide references here. What about the part, 'Soon your hopes will rise and then/From all this gloom life can start anew/And there'll be no crying soon'? To me, it's a song about hope after a heartbreak. | |

This song always makes me think of my mother. Her life has never been a bed of roses. She was badly abused in her youth (and then again throughout her married life) and, just like many other women, she felt she couldn't tell anyone about it. My feelings are exactly the same as those of the speaker in the song and, well, I listen to it and it's just as if it had been written for her...only her name is not Lisa, but Theresa. My favourite part: 'There must be more I can tell her If she really wants me to help her I'll do what I can to show her the way And maybe one day I will free her' Such is my hope. |
