| ATB – The Autumn Leaves Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Kind of an "post-relationship" reflection king of thing I think is going on here (as shown by "if you're through with me" and "cold tears falling down my face like the autumn leaves on a windy day"). The "who is to blame" is also another reflection of the relationship and maybe wondering why it failed. Anyway, it's just a beautiful song that employs a lot of imagery. |

| Fairweather – Welcome to Last Year Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I used to just think this was a sad song that ironically told you to keep your head up, but now I believe that its someone telling themselves that they need to keep living despite a painful moment. In the beginning, he begins by saying that no matter how bad things get and however much it hurts, the world is going to keep going. In the end, he seems to reveal that there is no hope for his relationship. He is either telling himself to keep going on despite the failed relationship or maybe he's realizing or at least starting to believe that he shouldn't go on, despite what he's told about tomorrow always being there and the world will go on. Just my interpretation. Anyway, this is my favorite Fairweather song simply because of its beauty. |

| Windsor Drive – Slow Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This song seems to demonstrate fear of commitment and rushing things. The fear of commitment is easily recognized ("Is it the cold that numbs my body or the fear of feeling nothing at all?" "the mere thought of commitment sits in the back of my mind"). The song is a good example of why we should wait and take things slow, which I believe is the general message of the song. If we go too fast, we miss the most important things and quite possibly get too far into something we aren't meant to. |

| Windsor Drive – The Forest Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This is the song that introduced me to Windsor Drive (seeing how this is the first comment, I'm hoping that eventually others will be introduced to this song). This is a great demonstration of the band's musical as well as lyrical talent. It reads like a fantasy/fairytale story. I believe the song is just an expression of the need for love ("I went too far, now I need you so much more") and the natural instinct of preserving and protecting it ("I am yours for the keeping", "I'll save you from the forest dark and grim"). It's a beautiful way of telling someone that you love them, hope they love you back, and that you would do whatever it takes to protect them. |

| Lifehouse – Only One Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is one of the songs that first really got me into Lifehouse. I learned the guitar parts before I had even heard the song and I slowly grew into loving it. The lyrics, to me, were very interesting because it didn't hit me right away as obvious as it seems to me now. To me the song is about betrayal and realizing not to give up, but seek strength and stability in other sources. There are going to be fake, manipulative people that are going to try to tear others down, but there are other places to find hope. | |
| Lifehouse – Everything Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Though I can definitely see how this would relate to God and religion, to me it is a reminder of just pure love. For me, it was literally the anthem of my first breakup because it was how I had felt for the person. Therefore, it always speaks to me about a love that quite simply gives strength and a reason for life. Quite simply, every line is so simple yet so powerful that it truly is breathtaking. | |
| Lifehouse – Walking Away Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
At first listen, I considered it about two lovers, but MuadDib made a very good observation by considering the father-son relationship and explained it well. To me, it reminds me of relationships that failed and one lover looking back and wondering what could've been (as shown by the description of the home and picket fence, etc, which they could have lived in). The "remember me, I remember you walking away" line shows that he is not over it and there is still remaining bitterness or sadness from the second party walking out on them. He doesn't have complete freedom because he is binded by this person (as shown in the freedom line), which again emphasizes the line that tells that he remembers the other person walking out. Very heart-wrenching emotional song that reminds me of failed relationships, whether it be between family, friends, or lovers. Great song. |

| Stairwell – Don't Let It End Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The way it seems is that something tore the relationship apart. It's obvious that growing up can change things within ourselves and in relationships, and some sort of conflict changed this relationship and broke it apart. However, the person realizes that the change had torn the relationship apart and admits that the person was comfortable in the relationship and still cares for the other person ("will I see you again", "warmth of your eyes"). I think this song outlines the consequences of change and recognizes that it can damage the most important things in life. | |
| Mae – The Sun And The Moon Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
It seems that he had considered this love for a long time, as shown by "wasted time" and the "worlds collide" lines. He had been thinking about the love and considering maybe whether it was worth it or not, but in the end seems to give himself up for it as shown by "you've already captured me". Another explanation could be that the love isn't perfect, as shown by the "wasted time", "worlds collide", and "branded for taking the fall". The love may not be perfect and he may have had past doubts, but in the end decided that it was well worth it as shown in "so when you say forever, can't you see you've already captured me". He is emphasizing and reassuring that he is dedicated to this love and willing to give himself to it. Anyway absolutely beautiful song in every single way. Great lyrics, vocal harmonies, guitar riffs, and piano work. It's an easy song to relate to, but difficult to duplicate. |

| Mae – The Ocean Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think the song is about a relationship that is somewhat forbidden in a way, as shown by the "figuring it out" parts and when he recalls the night being "somewhere in between what i feel and what I'm taught". But really it doesn't seem to matter to him because he still needs and longs for the person as shown by the use of similes, such as the ocean needing the waves. By comparing the love to the ocean needing the waves, he is able to emphasize that the love is very important to his being as the waves are important to the ocean. Another meaning that I considered because of the first line of the song ("am I alone in this?") is an internal conflict in himself and that he needs his love to help him figure himself out. There's many ways to interpret the song, but all in all it is one of the most gorgeous songs I've heard in a long time and I can relate it to a lot of things in life. Great song. |
