Folks - I guarantee you it's not about suicide. Don Roeser, the guy who actually wrote and sang the song, is an old friend of mine, and it is exactly as he described it. It's an affirmation that love is strong enough to span the curtain between the worlds of life and the afterlife. He penned that song at a very vulnerable point in his life. Again, it's not about anyone killing themselves. It's about the concept that, if you really do love the person, and your love is strong enough, that person will be waiting for you on the other side. Somewhere, I still have a fairly long e-mail he sent explaining the song verse for verse and how it all came together. It is a great song, btw - certainly a rock classic. |
