The story about the woman who burned herself is totally correct. She was being abused at home by her husband, and things got so bad that she completely gave up hope of ever having a good life. So she lit herself on fire, and as she was standing there, burning alive, she said it was the most excruciating pain that she had ever gone through. She thought to herself "If there is a god, my pain will go away." And then she went into a coma. When she came to, she knew she had to tell her story to everyone. It was great last night. Lacey is a really emotional singer anyway, but when she was telling this story, you could see the tears in her eyes, and the audience was absolutely captivated. It was beautiful. |

Okay, So I was just at a Flyleaf concert last night. When Lacey took a break to talk for a bit, she explained the meaning behind this song. Basically, at some point in her life, she was having a really hard time in her life, and it got better because she found God. I know that sounds really generalized, but thats as much as I can remember. So yes, this song IS about God. This song even plays on a lot of Christian Radio stations, or so I am told, not personally being a listener of Christian radio. But I also think that this song being about love is accurate as well. This band writes too well to confuse people over the meaning of their songs. If they wanted everyone to know it was just about God, then they would've written it that way. I think that they wrote it to have the double meaning. |
