Flyleaf – Beautiful Bride Lyrics 15 years ago
I get where you are all coming from, but I think maybe you are looking too deep into the song. I think calling ourselves "Brides of Christ" is a little strange, Im Catholic and in my 29 years, I have never heard that phrasing. Why cant she be singing about the unity of marriage? Every word makes sense with that in mind, even more sense than her singing about the Church. She talks about how the two are unified, and how you have to "unite" to "end all division" (work together as a couple in order to not get divorced) and she also speaks about how inevitably you will hit rough patches - "train your fingers for battle" (which by the way I think means "praying").

Flyleaf – Cassie Lyrics 16 years ago
all the children that died that day were victims. please dont lump all christians into a fancy neat box - we arent all the same. we can be liberals just as the same that we can be extremeists - just the same as anyone anywhere. i would never ever say you should believe in god just because i do. but to say someone else has to not believe in god just because you DONT is exactly what you think you dont like about christianity.

i agree with you to a point, but there are many of us that were outcasts who didnt gun down our schoolmates. i think, in the end - this was a parental problem. yes, it takes a village to raise a child - BUT if you dont have strong morals at home (ie. you know, murder is bad.) you're going to have problems. thats not to say that all killers have bad parents, but i think 90% of the time you will find some sort of abuse at home, be it mental, emotional or physical.

Pearl Jam – Given to Fly Lyrics 16 years ago
no offense to eddie - but i dont believe anything he says in reference to his own songs. when i saw unplugged he pretty much alluded that every song was about george bush, which is impossible since he wrote most of the songs they played a decade before bush was even in office. i think he decides what the song is about for him at that moment in his life - which is what i think is whats great about music. everyone can take away something different.

Pearl Jam – Given to Fly Lyrics 16 years ago
to everyone saying that this song cant be about Jesus, or a Jesus-like character simply because of the "human being" line - Jesus WAS a human being, that was the whole point of his existance, to learn how we work, to see how we suffer - and to bring all that back to God, and ultimately save us from our sins.

If you dont believe in that or not - thats totally cool, but thats why the human being line could still work in favor of the song being about Jesus or a Jesus-like character.

I think its definitely one or the other for sure.

Pearl Jam – Faithfull Lyrics 16 years ago
im not a big pearl jam fan, but this has always been one of my favorite albums...i have to say im kind of disappointed to read that all of these songs are actually knocking spirituality, when i thought it was the exact opposite. i was kind of impressed that eddie/mike had a view that was against what the "teen angst" would have him follow... oh well.

Nine Inch Nails – Capital G Lyrics 16 years ago
im not sure if someone said this yet, but,

Im catholic (well, was? ha) and When you are speaking of God, youre supposed to use a capital "H" in He, Him, etc...just as your supposed to use a CAPITAL G IN GOD.

Its possible that the underlying thing Trent was thinking about was G for George Bush - of course, in fact I think its probable. But as for the meaning - EVEN if its George Bush - im pretty positive he means CAPITAL G meaning God - as in George Bush signs his name with a Capital G because he thinks hes GOD - or whoever this fictional president was signs his name with a Capital G because he thinks he's GOD.

uh, i agree i think the "flip-flop, flip-flop, flip" is the best part of the song. the reason he says it over and over is uh...cause he's...um....flip flopping...get it? wow. my generation makes me sad sometimes.

Silverchair – Straight Lines Lyrics 19 years ago
theres this thing that happens between the ages of FOURTEEN and TWENTY-SEVEN...its called "Growing Up". Im not sure some of you have heard of it, banking on the fact that some of you seem to be stuck in 1995.

Silverchair has grown musically. Straight Lines may be a tad "radio friendly"...but you may want to open your ears up because MOST of their songs are catchy!

You cannot expect someone to feel/write/create the same that they did TWELVE YEARS AGO when they hadn't even begun to experience life yet.

There is a reason why they don't play songs from Frogstomp live anymore. Its not because they are bad, but they don't fit with what they feel is their sound and feeling they are hoping to get across.

No one says you have to like it, but just because you dont, you shouldnt accuse them of being "commercial"

They are amazing song writers, musicians and performers and have grown more than I've ever seen any other band even try to. This music is from their hearts, like patrick3972 said, and if you can't see that, I feel bad for you because you are missing out.
