LCD Soundsystem – All My Friends Lyrics 17 years ago
i think its beautiful that one small theme of looking back into past memories can deviate into so many stories and situations..

to me this song makes me feel like im in the peak of my life, and i'd be a fool to waste it... i'll thank myself for the times of bankruptcy, sleep deprivation and a general waste.. all spent with my friends.. I think that is what really hits the heart, you only have a short while in your life to live close to ur friends.. later on you wont get that chance.

The line "And with a face like a dad" and the part about the plane makes me picture myself coming home on a plane with my future wife and kids, and I wonder what all of my friends are doing at that moment. And what would it be like if i could see all my friends tonight?

a really sad thought i think, because as much as your friends have shaped you.. sometimes the short-lived friends can have the greatest effect as well.

the monotonous backing really provides a clear slate for you to take in murphy's words, and i think is extremely clever.

I just hope that i can look back on this moment, staying awake till the early hours of the morning listening to music like this, knowing I'm better off for doing so. In the morning, I'll be seeing all my friends.

Coldplay – Warning Sign Lyrics 17 years ago
this song is beautiful and so deep... i used to listen to it when i was with this girl and it made me feel good because i hadnt got to that stage...

but now it's different.. and i find that she is an island worth missing and floating past.. only because there was nothing more that she could show me.. id seen every side of her and weighed up the good and bad... and this song makes me realise that chris's words fall into my situation in vain.. as true and beautiful they can be, they make me more confident in being alone!

just thought it's a totally different perspective to take this song compared to everyone elses...

magical melodies though.

Glassjaw – Ape Dos Mil Lyrics 17 years ago
such a heart wrenching song from daryl.. i've liked this song for years now since i was 13.. but i never understood it trully until i grew up and had a girlfriend myself...

but wouldnt it be better wrote as "How could you heal/If you don't ease back the blame?" kinda makes more sense to me.

the words and his voice go hand in hand so perfectly! i love this song and glassjaw. worship and tribute is a mad album

Death Cab for Cutie – Your New Twin Sized Bed Lyrics 17 years ago
"other than a sick desire for self abuse" that line is really emphasized with the synth sounding part behind it. and I agree with chloethepirate, it makes the song awesome!

loneliness is a painful element of life and i think lying down in bed with someone at night time is the important difference between being alone or accompanied by someone. and i think ben puts it sweetly when he says "you look so defeated" because the person has just given up all hope.

the perspective definitely changes at "And I try not to worry". Maybe he's talking about a friend who this is happening to and maybe that person is either pack up camp and leave town.. or maybe life? and when he also says "And I hope you have more luck with this than me", it also happened to ben maybe and he's comparing the way both of them are reacting?

just a random stab i suppose. but nevertheless another gorgeous song under death cab's belt. I love them.

Broken Social Scene – Anthems for a Seventeen Year Old Girl Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is so incredibly perfect. From the simplistic trails of words to the plucking of the banjo. All the melodies seem to intertwine so neatly and I think that's why this song catches the trained ear so well.

I think a few people have really got the meaning of this song down, apart from depicting the epic necessities of a teenage girl, but rather doing such from an outsider's point. Any girl who is like this, everyone but other girls see it. Older or younger ages see it and realise what such a weird time it is.

It seems to me that it's a sad change from an outsider's point of view, like there is absolutely no hope to bring them back.. they have to realise it for themselves. "Now you're all gone, got your make up on and you're not coming back" and she's not going to return to being one of the "rotten ones" again.

alas this just a part of growing up and that's life.

such a beautiful, beautiful song that portrays my ex-girlfriend down to all but her teeth. Sad but true.

And sometimes you just can't listen to any other music after this song :)

Scott Matthews – The Fool's Fooling Himself Lyrics 18 years ago
Isn't it "Oh fair child" and "schock full of jealousy"?

"I only wince at your well
I was paid to accept what was dealt"

Just what it sounds like to me. Nevertheless a trully amazing song. I swear he could be jeff buckley's reincarnation, although that's more than likely impossible lol. The voices are so similiar.

But i have no idea about the general meaning. I think the chorus he has been putting off feelings of something that has happened "I was paid to accept what was dealt" and now he is "in debt with pain". thats all i got.

Anberlin – Adelaide Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is trully awesome! its so goood!
i'm from australia and this song i'm pretty is about when the band played in adelaide and the lead singer reallly liked a girl who lived there, but she treated him really badly and didnt care for how he felt, because he really liked her! and so he couldnt use the person's name as that would be slightly inappropriate, so he used adelaide for the name!

but he wrote this song without her knowing and "But by the time you've figured this out, And i'm already gone" says that when that girl finally realises wat he felt, he'll be gone! and "for what it's worth. you're stringing me along" - she's just using him.

and then he says how she really him going this time.. just frustrayion..

but i might be wrong.. but still a fantastic song and i love it!

Iron & Wine – Such Great Heights (Postal Service cover) Lyrics 19 years ago
ben gibbard was the one who wrote this song and these incredibly amazing lyrics. he captures everything in his words, but i do not believe those words actually mean that much when u listen to the postal service. these lyrics are to sweet to be bombarded with the elctro upbeat style postal has. i believe that if gibbard had only done what iron and wine has done, the song would be perfect, but then again im not sure if gibbard could match the level of this version. Sam beam's voice puts the extra touch in with his voice. i like the postal service. but i do feel that iron and wine was the best thing for this song. they gave the words life and a deeper meaning. just the simplicity makes any listener stop in their tracks and just think, why "come down"? there is no better place to be.

any musician who has a connection through lyrics can learn from this song, actions speak louder than words kind of situation. it's not what is said that matters the most. it is how those words are said, how it sounds and how it should sound. simplicity has caught my ear and i love this song.

never take music for granted. appreciate it. respect it.
